Help required.... some of you may remember, but i took delivery of my company car back in April.. A3 TDI 170 Black edition, DSG... well pleased at the time and very impressed with the DSG... well, i was.... up until a week or so back.. having strange problems with the gear selection that is very hard to describe in words and obviously easier to show someone but i will give it ago to see if anyone else has had these problems. First problem is when the car is coasting along at say 40-50mph, and slightly slowing... it seems to be droppin down gears very aggressively and when i say that i mean dropping from D5 or D6 right down to D2 or D3 and nearly putting me through the windscreen.... Secondly, its the other end of the scale when accelerating it seems to rev right round and redline before selecting the next gear and that without really booting it... added to the above my MPG has gone from almost 46mpg to just under 43mpg which doesnt seem alot but im driving it exactly the same as when i first took delivery.... again apologies for the rough details but i wondered if anyone else had any issues...

By the way, its booked into Sheffield Audi on the 10th October and im just trying to get some info together so they dont fob me off...

Thanks in advance. :)

Just to add to what ive already said.... the ****** Stop/Start has stopped working.......

I assume if you had it in April it was new so the software should all be up to date. It's covered under warranty but it does sound like a mechatronics issue or a faulty sensor somewhere...

Regarding the Software, i agree... i find it hard to believe it needs an update after 6 mths, but you never know... yes its under warranty but like i said im trying to give them some idea as to what it might do as they are wanting me to test drive it with one of their Technicians and get me to replicate the fault and i just know it wont ****** do it when hes sat next to me... surely if they just stick it on the diagnostic machine it will tell them the problem......

i guess by the lack of responses on this subject mine is a one off.... :-(

Unfortunately not, the mechatronic issues are synonymous with various vag brands, but it does sound very much like this is the issue, so audi should either try a reflash or swap out the unit.

Hi, I had a similar problem earlier this year, Dsg changing from 5/6th to 2nd when driving at a constant speed and other strange gear changes when pulling away or stopping. I had lots of replys on here advising it might be a mechatronic issue. But I had the fluid changed first as this was the cheapest option and it sorted it out. my car is probably older than yours (56plate 2.0 tfsi) and i think the fluid was previously changed incorrectly as only 4.5lts came out when it should be 6 ltrs ish. hope this helps.

Cheers for that, from what u say mines doing exactly the same... im goin to keep note of all the replies from here as its booked in at Audi in 2 weeks... and as its under warranty i know it will get fixed but just trying to save days of waiting for them to find out what it is... one consolation i suppose, i get a courtesy car and with any luck it'll be something better than mine... :rockwoot:
