XS Power Downpipes & Manifolds

You may find that your exhaust mani is cracked when you come to remove the turbo.

If the xs mani was around in June when I replaced my turbo I would have got one fitted just as it's all off and out the way.

This did cross my mind, another item on the list now then.

manifold, WMI, largeport, and **** loads of timing!

Job done.

Maybe....

Would there be any advantage running WMI on revo stage 2 standard k04 turbo?

from my own experience, YES. Massive difference.

DannyC on SCN ran WMI on his full stage 2 LCR, on the BAM engine with small port head still, he ran 50/50 water/meth, and it allowed him to dail in an extra 7.25 degrees of timing, and it was SERIOUSLY rapid!

100% yes
all k04's with remaps will benefit.. such is the heat generation from the k04 setups.. uber uber hot

I'd fit wmi myself but I'm nervous about the effect it had on welly's engine..........

Has anyone bought an XS power manifold recently ? wondered if they improved or revised there manifolds from some of the warped flanges etc... i wonder how it would compare performance wise against TSR,s what is over double the price i know its really well made
but £650 + vat woooo the wallet would be taking a bashing !

Heh....

Easily done especially if there are as many replies as this...

<tuffty/>

so can you get this revised one now and how much will it set you back?

eh?
what effect was that aside from cooling..

you confusing this to the fmic and bent rod scenario? - which started it all off

Yep, that's what I was thinking of. Ahh yeah, it was fmic and bent rods. My bad :)

well known phenomena... fmic killed my rods.. oh hang on that was 3" TIP killed my rods..

aka - luck of the draw at times

I know a beautiful s3 with rods already in... :ninja:

I have allways used heat wrap for my mani's and downpipes what are your views if I was to use heatwrap in this mani, I allso used a turbo blanket , what you guys reckon ? As these engines get very hot

To hot or fire ? They use turbo blankets and heat wrap on cars with 500bhp pluss, is anyone on here using any off these ?

I ran one on my >600bhp ibiza racecar
EGT's rose which I did'nt want.
hence my comment..

K04's run too hot already......... keeping them hot will elevate egt's further.. Manifold may appreciate the slower heat/cool transition which should be better for stress fatigue, BUT, the egt's will be too hot.. damned if you do, damned if you dont

Ceramic would have the same effect. Keeps more heat in.

If theres enough EGT headroom it can be beneficial, but when things are already at the edge of or in the danger zone, more heat is not what you want.

Watercooled exhaust manifold a-la marine engines anyone?

So...
I have a hybrid k04 and a 3 inch down pipe.
Which would make more sence?? Mani or WMI?
Local tuners ( mainly honda and evo boys )say i should just fit the next size up FMIC?
Im running CustomCode stage 3 mapping if that makes a diffrence??

From Welly's results when he had a K04 hybrid and fitted an exhaust mani, i'd say that will make the biggest difference.

I received this email from them yesterday out of the blue.

"They are now ready , FYI. We should have a price in the next hours - just working it out
These are 240 cell now - no issues with emissions - 321 stainless, robotic tig - so they are
on par with the big boys, but wont bust your wallet."

^ Well it's alright for some then!! lol
Is that with the new or old sports cat or de-cat? and have you had a MOT with it fited yet?
