Just failed an MOT on rear tyres

Does anyone have any recommendation on some decent 18" mid-range priced tyres for the rear?

Ok next question... Just been on there again and the price varies a lot depending on the size I get.

215/40/18 - £75 each
225/40/18 - £102 each

Which tyre size should I get? I have standard 18" S-line alloys from a 56 plate.

You've got the price wrong for the 225/40/18. I think you were looking at the 225/35/18.

I'm not trying to be clever but it takes 5 mins to check your tyre depth. If it's failed its MOT they are obviously not legal . So as-well as risking the safety of yourself and other road users and the cost of fines and points on license .with the added costs of higher insurance and the cost of another Mot .
Sorry but its a no brainier.

Unless the inner side wall is cracked and can't be see until jacking the car up maybe?

Ads ,I know he was asking about tyres initially,The point i was trying to put across was ,(Unless I'm different to everybody else) .I give my car the once over "Before" i take it for an Mot .Thus trying to rectify any minor faults prior to test.
As for checking tyre pressures and the tyre depth it should be done routinely not just once a year when Mot is due. Unless its like aiden said and its something he missed.
I'm not trying to be pedantic I'm only trying to be helpful !

I do the basics too, check all bulbs and the tyre depths and pressures there's not a lot you can do after that is there?

The only reason i mentioned the inner side walls is because i had a blow out last Friday and even though it was the outside side wall on my passenger side front, once the tyres were taken off (had all replaced after that) the walls pretty shafted on both the front tyres on the inside!

Do a search on internet for best tyre deals for your area.
I have seen Groupon are advertising 70% of some tyre deals .Depending on were you llive .
Haven't used them myself tho.
