Hi all, I've purchased some S3 side skirts and door blades to fit on my09 a3 s line sportback, does anyone have any info or fitting instuctions (wiv pics if pos) plus what nuts/bolts are needed for fitting as i understand that there is no fixing points underneath the sill just on top of sill.also how do the end caps fit do they clip or screw on
Any info welcome cheers

Ive done this mod m8, its very easy to do, pm me and ill
Do a quick howto for you

hi m8, the way i fitted my skirts was to do the following, sorry i didnt take any pix whilst doing this,
remove rear quarter side rubbing strip by inserting a plastic trim removal tool etc into the small gap between the body and the rubbing strip and just pop off the trim
dont be scared you wont damage anything, once the strips off you will see oblong shaped holes in the body panel, give the panel a quick clean up, squirt a bit of wd40 into the oblong holes in the panel, next open the door of the car same side your working on, look at the bottom corner edge of the door and you will see a small screw (torq) remove this screw and slide the door blade to the side and it will come off, again clean the panel, ready for new blade fitment, next thing to do is pop off the sill cover inside the car, once removed you can see that the sill cover has lugs on the underside, i simply removed these and sanded the area flat, i didnt wish to fit s3 or s line covers, i wanted my originals refitted, which i did by using some sikkaflex, it still looks like they were done by the factory, now you can refit new blade edge to the door then replace the small screw you removed earlier, i should also mention that i didnt change my door edges i simply removed a couple of mm from them with my sander. this allows them to clear the inside sill, if you know what i mean,
ok you should be ready for fitting the first piece of the skirt to the car, start with the small front piece, it will simply pop into the body panel without much effort, no glue etc needed, ok next offer up the large section of the skirt to the car again doing same as front by pushing the skirt into the holes in the body, this will make more sense when your actually doing it lol, ok now that the skirt is partly fitted go back to the sill inside the door and align the skirt with the holes in the sill and push in the small clips that were supplied with the skirts, once this part is done, go have a brew, ok next thing is refit the sill covers ontop of the newly fitted skirt, now check door closes ok etc, which it should coz the skirts are very good quality and fitment, your nearly done, ok the way i attached the skirts to the under side of the car was to squeeze a blob of sikkaflex through the mounting point holes in the skirt (underneath car) then i attached a rubber tap washer to the blob of sikkaflex , this method saves drilling the car and again looks like a factory install, and after 2 years they are still holding strong! if theres anything else your not sure of let me know, ill try and take a few pix later today, i hope some of this will make sense to you.

Thanx cal makes a lot of sense

I picked em today so will av a go at fitting nxt wkend

When you say you attached them with sikaflex underneath did u just use the washers to hide the adhesive and hole in skirt or did it have another use

Also did you have to remove the small piece of trim on the front wing were the end cap fits and how exactly did this clip to the car because I think there are small lugs which look like they have broken off the back of the front end cap

Thanx for yor patience

hi chris, when you attach the washer the sikkaflex actually ooses throught it, once it goes off it makes a complete bond between the skirt
and the underneath of the car, yes m8 the small piece of trim has to be removed at the front, this cap that your talking about covers the end of the skirt, if you know what i mean, hth

Might be handy to take some pics when you do it Chris. This thread could become the how to.

i'm looking at fitting these skirts to my car next week. i have a audi a3 2004 2.0 tdi 3 door, which audi s3 skirts do i need? 8p, 8p2 or 8p3 or does it not matter? any help would be much appreciated. jon

Any as long as they are 8p and 3 door skirts. You getting them from TPS?

stafford audi, my mates worked there for 5 years and i can get me discount, i'm gona try and do what blue quattro did and trim the door blades and door sill cover. do you know how he trimmed his door sill cover down, he says he sanded the lugs and the flat area, i havent had mine off yet so dont really know what he means, does he mean the bottom of the sill cover, so he was just trimming it down or actually sill that the sill cover was covering?

any help would be much appreciated.

I have no idea im guessing your better off sending him a Private Message

Can 8P fit on an 8L? seems there are lots of options for 8P but less for an 8L...

Bodykits are so pricey... I'm in the wrong bizniz!

Any advise on how to sand down the door blades. Such as how many mm and did you need to paint them after?
