I've been negotiating to buy a car, (cheap runabout while i wait for my new reg car to be delivered to the dealership!)

when the seller decides to mention.. oh it`s a audi A3 1.8T BUT the previous owner has removed the turbo to lower the insurance?????

is this even possible? would the ecu not throw a wobbler???

any help or advice much appreciated

Don't buy the car basically. Sounds a bit dodgy to me, tell the guy he's a muppet.

If you want a cheap run around buy a diesel 306 or something.

Agreed!

If you are waiting for a new car I take it you don't want something s***, I would honestly recommend a 306 HDI or D Turbo though, a million miles to the gallon, if you get a Phase 2 (1997+) car then they look really smart and they are cheap.

The resale value is super high too, and they are always in demand.

Really appreciate your help. 306 looks promising! 4 weeks till new car so its a choice of renting or buying something cheap!

haha, a turbo with the turbo removed? what a complete ****er.

It's clearly a 1.8 Sport with a T badge stuck on!

I like your thinking big boy. Clearly trying to get a few quid extra for what is a pitiful excuse for a car.

Yep sounds like he's trying to sell the very flat 125ps 1.8 20v n/a as something else. lol

306 1.9 dturbo is cheap to insure and theyre solid engines. u can tweak the fuel pump and turn up the turbo for an extra 20bhp for free aswell. 110-115bhp for a cheap reliable run around aint bad. I had one as my 2nd car had 145lb/ft of torque standard
