Cheers fella. I did think about different colour (darker) wheels but I think for silver cars its best to keep everything as silver as possible.

Thanks mate.

I was surprised how much the cost can vary. A little bit of patience can give big savings.

It's pretty personal how much money you've spent on your car, but before I started modding mine this was the info that I wanted before deciding whether or not I really wanted to go ahead with it.
I would say that I've managed to get it all done at the cheaper end of the scale, but hopefully its still a good marker for anybody else wanting to do the same or similar.

100% agree with you about the MY09 on silver - it reminds me I need to get my act together and order some MY11's from NHN.

Car looks tip top btw!

much awaited pictures!! looks awesome man, love the rims ads!

And definitely get the tints and spacers for rear. I was wondering also, since you have kept the grille chrome, why not have chrome surrounds for fog lights like the newer a3s? (if possible)

High 5 for the Fat 5s!

Thanks geezer.
I think tints will be a definite, not sure about rear spacers yet. I'm already getting the occasional bit of rubbing when the back comes down off of big speedbumps if I don't go slow enough. I'll have a think about it.

Sorry, forgot to answer this bit^^^

Doubt they'll fit mine, but to be honest I've never really liked the chrome bits on the surrounds of the newer A3s. Looks a bit..........

LOL!!

oh and why does it rub? :( I thought springs were meant to be pretty rigid? what if you have people in the back? :crying:

It's the rear tyres rubbing against a bolt in the bumper. Only happens if I go over a large speedbumps too fast but if i find it keeps happening then I'll just remove them (the bolts, not the tyres!)
I haven't had anyone in the back yet, hardly ever do, but might get a couple of my mates to jump in and see how much worse it gets.

Looks good fella  Bet your pleased with it!
Also like the wheels as well

Nice one Ash!
Yeah, i'm satisfied with it now.

I saw my nemesis the other day. He's got a nice clean standard 06 silver s-line and whenever he used to see my car in its Sport form he would look it up and down in a way that said "my car looks better than yours!"
I pulled up next him at the weekend and he looked and then looked away keeping his eyes forward until the lights turned green. :lmfao:

Ads, love the wheels. Car is looking ace.

Looks good man. Get that bolt taken out at the back. I removed mine and Im slammed and it never catches anything :)

That said Im gonna be running a more stretched 215/40 tyre soon and some spacers ... 'if you aint rubbin' blah blah, hehe.

Thanks Tim.
Yeah, might be taking that bolt out soon. So far its only catching every once in a while though, and that's only when I go over big speedbumps too fast. Other than that its all good.

And by the way.... nice rims you got there mate! ;)

'ello Ash. Thanks mate.

I've got three words to say to you.... LOWER LOWER LOWER!!
In fact, I saw a black Sport sportback like yours yesterday. It was totally standard but had obviously been lowered. It was pretty much the same height as mine so I'm guessing he must've dropped it by about 35mm below Sport.
Made the car look SO much better, even though it was still on the original 17" Sport alloys.
I think on the longer body of the Sportback lowering makes even more of a difference than on a 3dr. Looked sweet.

Ads this looks great! height looks perfect on the eibachs im going to defo lower mine next year (No point yet as winter is fast approaching)

Loving the wheels aswell!

hmmm i have been wanting to do it for a while now, just getting the money together as other things get in the way... but yh maybe like Farhan said, leave it til next year so i don't ruin any new wheels as i dont think i could keep the crappy sport alloys i have once lowered.

hey ads i love the Sig mate... you could even make a number plate like that.. A3 SID
lol

Haha.. yep, could do!
I'm actually thinking about getting a private plate, but I think i'm going to go for one that isn't car specific so I can keep it when I sell up.

How long did it take you to get yours on your car, from purchase???

the plate was actually really quick! as i live close to the DVLA office in Sidcup i wasnt stuck to go and sort out the transfer. i had the plates on the car about a week from buying the reg online from the DVLA website and i got the V5C through about 3 weeks after the transfer. i also have 'show plates' on mine so i didnt need the original certificate when ordering the actual metal pressed plates so i did that as soon as i confirmed the purchase of the reg.

That is quick. I'll might pull my finger out and order one to have on my car before ADI in three weeks time.

You coming to ADI then??

i am hoping to make it, but i really want that ugly dent in my car sorted and i have had some 'good news' last week where its finally about to be sorted but no timeline as to when :(
also have my oil service, MOT and Tax all due in a couple weeks so not the best of times for my poor car...
on a plus note i did quite a bit of work on the car and tidied up all the wiring from my installs and also fitted a rear view camera to my screen! its such a cool gadget to have... makes me smile every time i hit reverse.

Another update on the spring situation:

So after a week or so of the springs being fitted the height seems to be down a little more.
I've noticed that the driver's side is fractionally (a couple of mm) lower than the passenger side at the moment. The guys at AMD did mention this would be the case though. They said its due to the extra weight on the driver side (i.e. me) but it will eventually level out.

The ride has changed too. I've noticed that the springs have softened up quite a bit since having them fitted. Over small bumps they are probably more comfortable than my Sport springs, which weren't too bad and were pretty nice and comfy I found.
Over larger bumps and hard driving you can feel everything stiffen up quite a bit though.
I can definitely feel the "progressive" design/operation of the Eibach springs.... the car switches between firm and soft depending on driving conditions, which is perfect for where I live and the type of roads I drive on.

I know I've only done a few hundred miles on my stock Sport dampers but they seem to be doing just fine. No bottoming out.
I looked into buying some Bilstein B8 dampers as they should be a very good match for my springs, seeing as they are sold with Eibach Sportline springs in the Bilstein B12 suspension kit.
I called AMD for a price to supply and fit the Bilsteins but the guy recommended I just stick with my Sport shocks as they'll be fine for a good while yet.
He said that when they fitted the lowered springs they always have a good look and check of the original dampers and would advise of an upgrade if necessary.

So at the moment I'm happy with the Eibach spring / Sport damper set up.

But for those who are considering the same, I'll keep you posted.

I know what you mean about the dent. I'd probably still go though. It'll be a good day.

If you don't want to drive your car there you're more than welcome to drive down to me and then jump in mine if you like.
Have a think and just let me know mate.
