Things i should get checked on my s3 before the warranty runs out?

Hi all,

My s3 is in audi at the moment getting the exaust valve springs changed,i also mentioned to them that there was a clicking in the steering rack so they are changing that while its still in warranty.i was just wondering if there are other things i should get checked while its in as the warranty runs out this month?

can i just ask where you are gettiin thvalve springs changed? as i have the same problem. is your car modded at all??

If it is to do with the spring at the exhaust tips just take it out so you get a better note

Any juddering at idle at all? DMF's are prone to fail.

DMF = Dual mass flywheel, not sure about a "spring" at the exhaust tip but there is a vacuum operated flap in one of the exhaust taILpipe that shuts at lower revs to keep noise down, some times they can be heard clicking as the actuate. Nothing to worry about.

A judder/vibration/lumpy idle...Its basically the flywheel going out of balance if that helps imagine the sort of feeling you would have at tickover.

It can sometimes be felt around the 3 - 4k mark too, not as noticable (road noise etc)

thanks for all the tips,pm s3rye no problem but im only home til 7am.dont know how helpful they will be due to your car being modded but worth a try the number is 01223 414181.they called it a product inhancement so its not a warranty job.good luck:icon_thumright:

I used to mess about with minis in my youth and done all sorts to them and i remember you used to be able to get light flywheels to make the car rev quicker,is that an option if the dmf goes wrong?and in what way do they go wrong?

I used to take the fan off and that increased power by 10% on mini's

Clutch & DMF, check for slipping.

S3, superb car, unforgivable weak points.
Not the hassle free prospect it should be.
Still great though.

Always said its a properly quick car with Stage 1. Used to enjoy p!ssing on EVO/Scooby owners picnics.

Only bragging rights these days are, MPG, Steering, seats, handling, Media pack and chassis.
3er is superb as long you have 6 cylinders an a Turbo

Very pretty.
Right spec, right colour, right car.

Coupes looking better by the day but got used to 4 doors already , got old.
Few 4 door M3 kicking about now though....

Ere, my doors dont look like that on my BE! lol They must have changed the piano black inlays sometime in 2011 maybe? My inlays are not around the door handles like that.

tried a 335i before i brough the s3,the problem was for the same money as i paid for the audi i could only get one 2years older than what i have now and it wasnt as much fun to drive.
