Audi A3 Black Edition Delivery Times 2011

i've to phone back on Thursday and the supplying dealer will phone through to the Audi sales office who apparently have four weeks firm sight of the build programme. Still showing week 40 estimated, but previously 35. Shocking that i need to phone them! Will hopefully be worth the wait!!

Yeah, I agree about the more you wait, the more chance there is of changing your spec! I added the pan roof to my order - which is probably a cunning trick by Audi whilst customers wait!!! Its not delayed things as yet... fingers crossed!
I'm hoping for confirmed build date in the next few days from the dealer as week 38 is not far off now! Then got to wait for shipment!

I CANT WAIT MUCH LONGER!!!!!!!!!............................

The longer I'm waiting the more I'm thinking I should have ordered something else! I'm unsure now about the colour - Ibis. I'm still being quoted build week 46 which hasn't changed. I ordered first week of June, I'm having the standard BE seats but have added lumbar support, tech pack with AMI, comfort pack and interior light pack. Have wondered whether I should have added heated seats or alcantara!

I Knew a trip to the Dealer to sign the updated order would be a mistake.
But after owning the A4 with the 2.0 Tfsi engine I was unsure if I had made the right choice going back to diesel, on this order
as I only do low millage, with alot of short journeys.
I was worrying about all the dpf issues you keep hearing about, and after chatting with the dealer my fears were right.
Anyway changed the order to a 2.0T Quattro S/tronic I love the engine, was just trying to save money with the diesel.
Dont know the impact on my order date though!!!!!

This is similar to me.

I agreed with Audi that they could have my current Audi back on 1st October (This was the original build time i was given when i ordered in July) As i mentioned I have a non code 20 build date of week 48 (Middle of Nov). My car is still going back on the 1st of Oct, so they kinda have to give me a temporary car until mine arrives.

Would simply say you have put the handover date back for your car much like they have moved the delivery date for your new one.

Are new cars in the show room that hard to find ?? I decided on Sunday i wanted a new S3 and bought one on Monday, picked up Wednesday. All the bits i wanted ( S-tronic BOSE, RNSE, auto lights and wipers, bluetooth,, Exclusive leather with white stitching, reversing sensors, heated seats, cruise, BE, AMI/ipod dock etc) less interior light pack but i'm not waiting a year for that when i can fit it in an afternoon.
They still have another new Ibis S3 in the showroom.

I was the same, I rang the dealer, they found the spec I wanted (almost) at another dealer, car was transferred, I was driving away a few days later. I didnt know about the waiting times back then, but I'm glad I'm not waiting.

I get on quite well with my salesmen due to the amount of work we do for Audi and he looked at the 3 nearest dealers and there were no black editions near spec at all..

Like you say Pad, if there was something near enough, I would have retrofitted the other stuff.

I couldn't even find a 2.0 TDI (140/170) within 2 hours of me, never mind a black edition in the spec I wanted. The best they could do was a 1.6TDI Sport FWD 3 door. I wanted 2.0 TDI 170 Quattro Sportback.

We tried for a week to get an S3 with comfort / tech / BE / int. light in black or meteor grey. Nothing. Eventually because I wanted S3 colour (Panther Black), there were none and waiting was only choice.

bouncing between wk 39-40 for build, so likelihood is we wont see it until end of Oct / early November which is a shame. Went in to get a quote on RS3 19" rotors for it yesterday afternoon, so will make sure I'm sat down when they come back with the price.

A bit of positive news to help balance out the negative, mine was scheduled for build week 34 (end of Aug), just had an update from my lease company informing me that the car has been built and is now just awaiting shipping!

Mine includes Leather so not sure if its something else causing certain delays, Tech Pack / RSN-E?

It seems to me that cars ordered through lease companies and through businesses have a quicker build time rather than personal purchase... Just a thought...

Can't see it myself, the lease companies still order through a dealer and to them it should just be another order at the same value, I don't think the dealer could even influence the waiting list priority even if they wanted to.

Dealer been in touch today in view of recent order change, and he says it shouldn't have any impact on delivery date
if anything the order will come through quicker, as there is a shortage of diesels at the moment, and a supply of petrol's!!!

s1ngy, did you ever get told of a delay?

No mate, was just worried reading a few of these posts, never changed my order since putting it in back in April, not sure if that's anything to do with my luck? If it's because I've ordered a 140 rather than 170 or that they have run out of parts mid way through wk34?

I can't see how a large international company like Audi would run out of any parts though when they get their orders 6 months in advance, unless it's from a 3rd party but even then can't see it due to the charges they would incur.

One of my colleagues ordered a brand new A6 back in June and he's already received that...

I think some of it has to do with the disaster in Japan. My dealer told me that one of the tyre production factories Audi used in Japan was badly affected and that is 1 reason for delays for BE.

I'd believe the excuses if they were the same. One dealer told me it was paint, another electrical parts, another tyres. They're clearly just making it up as they go along.

Tyre factory my back side, that's probably one of the few items they can switch without much difficulty. Custom parts, yes - tyres they could source from anywhere.

Hi I'm new to the boards, be gentle :)
I came across this board looking for some Audi support before actually buying the Audi A3 incase of any known faults I should be aware of.

I'm in serious consideration of buying a new Audi A3 Black Edition 170 but reading from here that there is a standard of a 6 - 9 month wait is a real put off.

I am not sure to whether now look around on autotrader for a similar spec, or look for a different car.

Can't seem to find a car which gives high MPG, low road tax and that does 0-60mph in 7.7seconds.

Am I to assume that an Audi with less options have a higher chance of quicker delivery date?

If you only have to wait 6 months you are very lucky, I would buy 2nd hand if I could, as mine is a company car I have to buy new so have to wait the duration...

found a local car to me, same spec, colour, just missing comfort pack which i could live with, lease company wouldnt have any of it, but i now have a hire car insignia SRI VX 160bhp diesel thingy on 19" rims. seriously starting to wish i had chosen one of those instead. no more news on the A3. Insignia is on hire till December at least then, wonder how much that has cost?

Haha, No wonder I've got such a delay. I've got half those things on my spec!

Spoke to the dealer again today and finally been told a build week of week 39 so 1st week of October with delivery hopefully 1st week of November. We shall see!

hi guys . im new to this site i ordered my a3 BE at the back end of april i was told build week 35 which i did think oh my god that will take for ever but got a phone call from audi to say my car was at he main dealers (audi derby) 2nd week in august happy days , sadly was going on holiday mid august so didnt pick it up before hand , which to be honest would of been abit silly any way at least its on a my61 .............. and i pick the car up this afternoon cant wait .
so i cant understand all these extended waiting time of 6 to 9 months and my car did have a high spec as well.
just hope i like it will it compare to my mondeo st tdci that is the big question ................ lol

Been in touch with the dealer and week 40 build has been confirmed, which is week beginning 03 October. Apparently I should see it around mid October :)

What's the usual timescale between the car being built and it being delivered to the customer?

Think 2 weeks is from build to delivery is a bit optimistic, mine was built wk34 which was 2nd to last week in Aug and have been told delivery should be end of Sept... suppose it depends on if u time it lucky with a shipping, not sure how often they ship?

You are in the same situation as I was two years ago. The last two weeks of Aug and December the factory shuts down for annual holiday. Mine was sat in a ship yard for two weeks waiting to be loaded (the guys there start the car and see it through to putting it on a ship). That's why yours may take a little longer around those times of the year. I would say 2/3 weeks is normal during most of the year.

Been contacted by the dealer again today..............Still week 38 build, 2 weeks away!!! Was told it takes aroung 10-14 days for transit from factory to dealer.

Ticking the days of my calender!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :salute:

ON ORDER: A3 BE Sportback 1.8T Ibis,Pan roof,Leather/alc,comfort pk.

soooooooooooooooooo jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just for info i ordered a 140bhp sportback tdi with comfort, storage, and sound pack, in brilliant red with silver stitching / half leather, seems so weird so peoples brought forward and others put back

Story given was that it would come straight out the factory and on the boat. Should be with the dealer a couple of days later. Couple of days or so to pdi and valet, then on the transporter and delivered to my door. Will see how it goes though! Just happy that the build week has now been confirmed.

Yes thats a nice feeling that its all confirmed and the car will be put into build in the next week or so..

Hope mine doesnt miss the boat !!............................:salute:

That sir is a massive ball ache!! What have the stealers got to say for themselves for adding on that many extra weeks?? 12month wait is ridiculous. Are they not able to find a stock car with near same spec that was a cancelled order??

No stock car and no cancelled order. I'm still waiting on a call with an explanation (been waiting over a month now).

Quite frankly they can ram it ;)

Jeeez, thats a long wait. Have you tried complaining to Audi UK?

3 door 170 stronic. Heated front seats, leather, auto lights, cruise. Ibis white.

thanks mate, quite different to mine, dont seem much of a pattern to the delays
