If you have followed RS models, they are always, in most cases, available for a couple of years max, and usually at the end of a model's life, so nothing changes with the RS3. Plus they can't exactly make it go faster than a RSTT or an RS4 can they?

There was so many enthusiasts that 'wanted' this car!, but I think Audi have priced it out of their range @£40k+ lol

Plus no 3door or manual option lol. I will admit i like the RS3 more after seeing one in the flesh yesterday and seeing what it can do

I dont think many wanted it like this ! They wanted a true RS model not a half hearted attempt SB. Had it been fitted with the S5/S6 3ltr V6 lump and some subtle styling they probably could have looked at risking more than 200 in fact it would have swayed me i think but taking a Std SB, removing the fog lights and putting some cheap mesh in their place, some loud 19" wheels that look like std BE edition jobs and chrome handles is taking the pee out of the enthusiast. Anyone who wants to go fast in a sports car will do better to buy a TTRS and anyone who wants to go fast in estate will do better to buy a RS avant, both of which are far better cars. Its not easy to find £30k value in my car let alone £40k in a RS3.

Correct :) what Paddy was getting a cross about the wheel are that the RS models should have there own design. And not the same design you see on all Black Edition Audi's.

but is that not his point though dude, the fact that audi have delivered the RS3 to be nothing more than a half ***** attempt for what they are charging it out at??

We were thinking of buying the RS3, but I did not want a 5 door car, I preferred the look of the 3 door, and when I sat down to work out configuration spec costs it came in at £46k.

No A3 platformed car irrespective of engine denomination is worth that. If you have that kind of money you buy a 'proper' car. £34k is bad enough for an S3, but by today's standards it's not terrible against what else you can buy for the money.

In summary, I expect to pay some money to enjoy driving something mildly interesting. I want hassle free motoring and enjoy tech, so the old car (8L) is no longer an option for me. The 8P is a testament to Audi's recent design malaise, but it's got what I want where I want it, potential under the skin. Alu suspension components reducing excessive weight, cheap & easy 360bhp, MMI, RNSE with SD/iPod , MFFBSW, bluetooth, voice control yada yada. It feels more a car for the 21st century than the 8L, but that said I'm still a huge fan of the 8L's appearance (particularly 225bhp late car in silver or grey).

Nothing wrong with the wheels where they belong on a BE S3 but to paint the rim bright "red" and stick them on a £40k car is taking the Pee..i

I am not for or against the RS3 argument, I personally have not wasted any brain power on the the conundrum as I am not in the market for a 40k car :)

All this debate about how half ***** it is, who's the idiot here? Us the minority or Audi who have sold their half ***** attempt almost immediately (instead of spending a fortune)....you can always use the argument that idiots bought it or dealers, the thing is though they are sold..... its not as fast as an RS4, and so it shouldnt be but its a damned site cheaper to run taking depreciation out of the equation - that said i bet they dont fall like a stone either.....

pointless debate IMO :)
 
I will wait for them to depreciate but i very much want an RS3. Remap it 400bhp+ and you have an amazing all round car, faster than an RS4 and better mpg too

I would also love to have the new RS3 in Misano Red. But as you say it is well overpriced. They could have done so much with the styling of this car, as is its going to look old and dated very quickly, and for the price of 40k i wouldnt pay.
