I know this is such an old thread lol but i was looking for info on silicone pipes and this came up. Just been on the phone to awesome gti and they seem to say that they dont do a black pipe any more as they were melting and the red one has some heat treatment in it
tell me if i am completely wrong though or just being naive...... cheers.

The exact same thing happened to that silicone bend on my car, i bought a silicone elbow reducer off ebay for £15 which done the job.

This is true, Unfortunately Forge Motorsport only do a Red one now.
Well... I say red, but it's not really red.
It's more a dull red towards their other silicone hoses kits. As you mention, the red one has special heatproof properties (although I'm not 100% clear myself on what the treatment is that it goes through to give it these properties).

I did have a quick look just now to see if Samco or SFS Performance do this hose, but unfortunately there is only currently Forge doing an after market one.
