Good evening All
Anyone know what work would be involved in making a 2009 climate control work in a 2006 car ???
I had heard some reports of them working and some not working so I bit the bullet and bought one, which seems to be alright exept for the recirculate button (top left) when it's selected the flaps don't open :( and the A/C button which only stays illuminated whilst
pressing the A/C button, I was reading a thread on mk5golfgti.co.uk where mk5 golf owners can fit mk6 climate control but it's a dash
out job to fit a new air flap I think ,
:)

looks like you were unlucky and have the older system. As with the Golf, i'm afraid you would have to change the whole airbox unit :-(

Cant be done, anyone says can with just the climate, they're talking ball-locks.

As ewan states, change of heating unit & dash out.

So it CAN be done then?, dash out and change heating unit???
Got the unit for a good price so thought I'd try it out I'm sure some of us don't mind being the guinnea pig with parts to see if they
work :),
I had a feeling it was the old unit Ewan but I've heard of some older cars plug and play, saying that I haven't actually seen it!!!!!
Thanks guys

Im guessing you have never swapped out an airbox Martin!!! I did it once on an 8L A3...

... looks like open heart surgery

I was the guinea pig, it doesnt work & anyone that says it does on an 06 car doesnt understand the system, it wont work on an 06 car in factory form, thats a fact, wiring & motor differences.

Yes it will work if the heater system is changed & wiring amended.

I know Nige you don't get enough praise for testing out these things
:)

I know what you mean Ewan, hell of a job just to have a new control unit,I guess this control will live under the stairs for the time being
:(
The only dashes I've had out were from my old 80 sports, some
years ago

So how would we know if this works?

I have a Jan 2008 sportback which i would like to update the climate control buttons to the chrome version.

Is this possible then as a swap out?

I have pasted one of Nathans posts from the eBay/classified thread below, hope it helps :),
My car is 08 plate. I believe if you take the glovebox out you should see orange tabs or something of the like (thats what nigel said) and then you'll know if its a no or a go. Matt andrew also has this in his S3 which is a 57 and works perfectly.

If you have an 08 car with climate control, then its 99.9999% sure to work, but has to be done with vcds aswell to initialise the unit.

Yes if you see the orange cam system connected to the fan unit with 1 blue motor, it will work.

You, the new great white Shark, are most welcome :)
