Is the 8P s3 worth the money?

You are proberbly one of a few that can give a good argument either way as you came from the earlier S

I've tried being impartial but the favour is always going to rest on the 8P, or should I say that that's the odds on expectation - therefore people with 8L's will instantly assume bias and discredit my views viscious circle

If the body shell of the S3 8p had been tweeked then I could have seen myself getting one, but would have to have bucket seats , flat bottom stearing wheel etc. But as she stands then my money stays in my pocket close but no cigar can`t justify the outlay but thats just me.

To be honest,that's one of the better points for many who have done a fair bit to the car....it looks relatively stock,and can give some far more expensive cars a bit of a shock.

There's a difference between looking subtle and looking stock... Subtle is nice, but looking the same as a 1.6 tdi s-line(nothing against them) is a waste of money.

There's a difference between looking subtle and looking stock... Subtle is nice, but looking the same as a 1.6 tdi s-line(nothing against them) is a waste of money.

Mine doesnt look anything like a 1.6 tdi - But then it doesn't look how it goes either - If i'd have wanted that feature i'd have bought an orange Focus ST and a baseball cap. That said if you want a bit of individuality just buy an S3 with a colour 'specific' to the S3, problem solved!!

Really, these are no reasons not to own one for me - like I said, try living with one and you'll understand

Having had both 8L & 8P models I feel the 8L S3 was a bigger jump forward over other 8L models than the 8P S3.
Just add some skirts and it could look like a 140 S-Line.
A little too subtle I think.
Even RS3 is way too boring looking. Taking the fogs away hardly does the trick.
Had 8L REVO mapped and loved it, don't trust clutch on 8P to do it.
I also see what your saying about the seats. 8L seats, for the year, war far superior!

Get it mapped, its not that delicate!! unless you ride it like a great big fanny

They are obviously going to look different, they are 10 years and a whole model apart. What we are discussing is if they are worth it.. Even 8P owners have said that they don't look much different from any other model, yet the 8P fan boys won't have it.. Compared to the jump from a3 to S3 on the 8L, the 8P is a BIT of a let down, without the buckets, which are an optional extra, are they not?

Sorry mate, you misunderstand me.. I have and 8p3 now, but I used to have an 8L s3 dolphin 2002.. And That was different from the previous s3 -the 210 iirc? The facelift one had bigger arches, didn't it?

I own the earliest S3 known to man(one of the earliest anyways ), and it has wide arches. Front and rear aswell.

The 8L 210 was pre (APY) and post (AMK) facelift, then they made the 225 (BAM) aswell. All of them have the same arches, the differences were headlights, tail lights, badges and interior bit n pieces.

Well lets get this out the way....im 32 and mine is bought and paid for, HPI it!! I also have my own house and a mortgage..... so go justify someones elses success whilst crying in ya cornflakes on a different forum..... annoys me when people like you post with no aim other than to justify your own existence.

As i said before, us defending what we have is going to come across as snobbery to you, we've paid a hell of a lot more than you assuming you've bought in the last couple of years. Thats not my issue and i certainly wont apologise for it..... you need to have a word with yourself and have a think at how we can defend our cars without sounding snobby? I bought mine because it was an upgrade to the 8L......am I a snob? no....

as jojo said, all 8L's have the wide arches, the facelift car had different wings to accommodate the oval side repeaters and the new one piece headlights..... the flared arches where the same on all variants

Ok.. I stand corrected.. I'm big enough to admit I'm wrong! Lol..... It must've been a visual thing due to mine being the dolphin colour, which always seemed to accentuate the lines
