I have used R Tech on my Mk4 Golf.... Their figures are shall we say over stated! Try CARBON CHIP TUNING I have a map of theirs on my 2.0T and it is smooth and very OEM like...

Well starting out with 265 bhp i thought that 295bhp should be easily obtainable what gains did they quote and what did you see with the golf?,with regards to the revo my wife wouldnt find it to aggresive for the drive into town then?its in traffic all the way

It was quoted at 210bhp for the Golf when in fact it was rolling roaded at 190bhp... And it was 180bhp from the factory!

I dont think your wife would even notice driving normally, it only goes really quick if you drive it really quick. :) its a pussy cat really, it doesn't come in with a bang or rip the steering out your hand or anything, if anything its more linear than the std map.

Bought not Brought, sorry a massive petulant annoyance for me.
Go for revo with the switch. That way the missus can have it normal and you can switch the map on when you get in.

The switch is extra, yes, like anything really. Up to you if its worth it?

Induction kit is the best for the S3, it likes to breath. Then it just moves on; exhaust, and stage 2, new clutch and a fuel pump and stage 2+ and 380bhp

Oh and a simple remap from revo will see over 300bhp most likely, the S3 is more than 260bhp standard usually.

The switch is £150 but changes the map back in seconds. TBH you wouldn't bother after a week or two. Stg1 revo will give you about 310bhp if everything else is on song and thats more than enough if you just want a bit of fun at the weekends .

over 300 bhp sounds good to me,£150 for a switches does not.id rather spend that on more power not turning it off, presuming an uprated clutch would be needed to cope with the extra power and the fuel pump to feed it.

You will need a clutch and flywheel so add £1k but fuel pump will be ok.

id say go with evolve, on my stage one, it took my car to 319, now im on stage 2 im on 360, no idea what the mapping cost me as it was over a year ago now that i had it done, stage 1 gives you a small shove in the back on full throttle, so if you boot it you will feel the diff! fantastic bit of mapping though

oh on a side note, just as a word of warning, there was a batch of 2008 S3's that were fitted with incorrect exhaust valve springs, as a result, when the car is mapped causes epic misfires! may be worth checking with audi to see if your car was listed on the TSB

What what what!!???!!! Need to get that checked before I go mapping then, cheers Paolo!

Thanks for all that, with regard to the valve springs mine is one and it is being done on the 5th sept and is going to take a week.just inside warranty which was lucky.i asked what it would cost if i was to pay for it,a nasty £2.5k.are there any other things i should get checked out in general while still in warranty and before a remap so i can get the best results when i do get it done.

Sorry to jump on on this thread, but what is the TSB? I too have a 2008 S3, worth checking out.

I doubt this was a warranty issue anyway.

it
shouldnt be a warranty issue as its a known issue, but even still, any chance audi will try and squirm out of it and they will!

they have less chance if you print off the TSB and take it in with you!

even still, think with Ry they have point blank refused to do it as hes got an APR pump fitted

They would have to be able to prove that the modifications he had made had caused or contributed to the failure of the valve springs. It would be pretty difficult to prove that him changing the pump had caused them to retrospectively fit the wrong colour valve springs. :)

as i said... any excuse!
think hes gonna email the head office and try and sort it that way

It will get to the point soon if you have the wrong shaped **** and you've sat in the driver seat they'll find a disclaimer route.

I was knackered from firsrt service as I refused the software revision update and they basically grinned and told me I may live to regret it. The only saving grace is that because the car isn't run on a shoestring I can vote with my feet.

Its amazing what sales will overlook when you sell/go to buy new. Service are one trick pony chumps (in general).

My 58 plate is going in for its 2nd service next month and warranty runs out end October.
Was swithering about asking about valve springs in case I fancy a re-map a few months down the line..........but I don't really trust them to change them without making an a@*e of something seeing as its so close to warranty running out. Frightened incase something goes wrong with what they have done just after warranty runs out and they wipe their hands of the situation!
You know what they are like!

If they replace or work on something you still have a guarantee on that item and work. Ask them them about it, it may be covered for a year after they do it, but just those parts.

Thanks. Yeah I realise that but its a relatively big job to change them all out. I just don't trust the chancers!

I dont think you do actually, they guarantee all parts for the 3 years ( on a new car), if they replace a part under warranty after 2 years 6 months they are only obliged to warranty that work for the remainder of the 3 years.

mine is going in for the valve spring change on sept 5th,ill let you know how i get on but so far vindis audi in cambridge were only to helpful and didnt try and get out of it,so far that is.
