Did the grill surround this morning

Love that mod, well done! I ve got a B6 A4 in silver and i think that covering the chrome with a matt black finish vinyl will look a lot better. Anybody knows if i can just take the chrome grill surround off on an 03 A4 or will i have to take the whole grill or bumper off? Obviously if i can just unclip the surround i would rather do that than take the bumper off. I just dont want to force it and break the clips off etc. Has anyone done this on an A4? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ye 3m has now launched their new 1080 premium cast designed specifically for vehicle wrap. 12 new finishes, few new carbon colours too, good thing is it's now avaiable in 1500 wide so we can now wrap wider areas without having to splice the weave. Im still waiting for some samples, will post up when iv checked out.

awesome mate cant wait to get some and get wrappin!!!

my mate is awesome at wrappin..im gonna get him to do engine plastics..some wingmirror..d pillers..grill and both audi rings..
then inside im gonna do some bits not decided what yet?? gonna try do different bits than normal..month or two to get it how i like it and all serviced etc then gonna let my mate weave his magic

sweet little mod and a decent write up as well... nice work damo!

is it also possible to wrap the four rings as well or is it too awkward a shape to do properly?

Cheers dude, You'll probably might get the rings if you push it right in before you cut between the rings.

Sounds good pics when done! you might struggle under the hood, iv done the slam panel and the v5 on the cover, was going to do the whole cover and cut around the lettering but it just won't stay in between the letters so when you cut in it looks like you used Yr teeth lol. 3m cv3 deffo won't do it due to its adhesive so I'd try a different vinyl type dude

Grill looks brilliant, One day i will get round to doing mine.

damo saw the S3 in your banner at AITP looked amazing, vinly work was great.

Cheers buddy, means

Sorry for the stupid question but how the heck do I remove the grill surround? Does it just unclip out or have I got to remove other parts first?

Two ways dude, cleanest is to remove the front bumper then push out the grill surround from the rear side of the grill or you can use a trim tool/ flat screw driver and pop it from the front. Start On the inside Corners and Work your way around. Some people have snapped the clips doing it this way though! so I'd have a go and if it ain't budging just whip off the bumper. takes about half an hr to have it off and back on then just clip the grill back in once done.

Remove the bumper it'll save you 60 quid in replacing the grill

One problem with what you did........ you made it look easy :) iv got the 3m dinoc carbon stuff and its a mare to do (limited skill though)

Looks sweet

How easy is it to remove wrap if one botches their attempt at wrapping something?

I wrapped mine and tbh wasn't hasn't happy with the finished product, when I can be bothered ill do it again, I've not actually removed any vinyl in my life but I can only assume with a heat gun it would it would be super easy

Wrapping is so old school now. It's all about plastidip spray paint now. Easy to do, very durable, and easy to peel off cleanly. Have a look at some of the plastidipped grill videos on YouTube.
