Anyone else with this problem on 2006 2.0 TDi? Injectors...

Just a quick update...received a call from audi uk today to address my concerns. She was asking if the car's injector had failed previously or been in limp mode? anyway she gona ring me back tomorrow to arrange for me to book in with my local audi garage to check if the injectors have been changed. Hopefuly everything goes well. BIG THANKS to the guys on the forum who did the hard work and also put me in the right direction 
Just got the middle finger given to me by Audi customer services. The "full" cost of repairs quoted in the VOSA letter has not been met, and they are now making excuses that the labour hours required to get the car fixed was too long, so they will NOT be paying MOST of it. Apparently it's only a 2 hour job and the 4 hours taken were too long to diagnose and fix it... He was actually trying to reason with me... I had 2 complete failures and got told to f*ck off by Audi Northamton, and this bean counter was trying to justify shafting me!

At that point he categorically DENIED that there are or were any faults with the old injectors and that neither VAG nor Audi have admitted any fault...
If anyone thought that Audi were sorting their sh*t out, think again... I'll be contacting VOSA and telling them that VAG are once again cutting corners and that their Audi UK customer "service" is still denying the problem. When I told them I had it in black and white in front of me... he swiftly changed the direction of the argument...
I want to say I'm surprised, but I'm not... never had anything but sh*t from them... glad I got rid of the headache once and for all...
Still waiting for the (now reduced by £400) cheque...

Jfarhead sorry to hear that buddy. My Car's been booked in with audi tomorrow @11.30 so i'll see what they say to me. You right about Audi because according to them there is no known issue with these injectors failing!! Yeh What ever!Its just people on the forum/internet making it out to be a big issue thats what i got told by Audi customer service!!!
I did make it clear to Audi customer service regardless of the injectors being the old/newer version ones i aint paying a penny for them to check/replace.
Audi have booked me in again on the 19/8 to have the injectors replaced FOC. The good thing woz the mechanic knew about this so there wasn't much need of explaining myself.
Anyone have any update from VOSA, as to whether they are still pushing for a recall, or has this now been swept under the rug now that the vocal minority are being compensated? I've asked for an update but have got nothing, I usually at least get a generic response saying it's still being looked into.
Hey Jfarhead the lady that booked me in was aware of customers that were being refunded for the injectors being replaced. The mechanic told me how dangerous the injectors are when they fail and as long as Audi customer service confirm that they are covering the cost am happy to change them. Audi are trying there luck to milk money out of their customers for a fault that clearly is theres!! if the job is 100% related to old death trap injectors being replaced regardless of the labour time Audi has to cover it. Buddy try again with customer service if not just wait for Vosa

Had mine back from west london audi yesterday. Pleased with the service. I had cambelt and mot at the same time...

Heard nothing myself, I reckon that VAG think they have done enough by just responding to the ones who complain etc. This is just , as you have said , damage limitation and not good enough.
The fact that some of the dealerships are still acting ignorant of it all is really bad.
It will be interesting to see what vosa come back with.
Surely people like watchdog should be getting involved now to raise awareness.

Had a familly holiday to Devon this week and she ran faultlessly after the loom change.
Was disappointed upon my return to still not having recieved my cheque.

Audi1980, They failed last November mate and had them done at an indie, this was before the loom issue came to light.
From all the info on this thread Audi uk agreed to take her in to be checked over and replaced the loom at there expense.
The injectors i currently have are the latest ones so were left unchanged.

A quick look around the forums and you will see that it is full of newbies being handed a repair quote from their garages, and THEN having to google the solution and stumbling upon this VOSA thread. Simply put, VAG have not admitted fault, and their services/garages will treat any new incident as a normal issue, bill and send home... until the newbie tells them they know about the VOSA letter, then all of a sudden it's "ohhh, THAT fault, I was not awaaaaareee"...
They're splitting the cows... one group is for milking, and the internet group for slaughter, once everyone here has received their cheque, you think they'll give a flying monkey about other's "safety"? Statistically speaking, 80% won't touch this thread again... until they've got another failure...
Let's assume VOSA bend over to VAG's mumbo jumbo and agree that one dead family is hardly worth them forking out a few million and a hit to their reputation... they shake hands, and we get one or two fingers from that, depending on how kinky you are feeling...
...who's going to set VOSA straight? What's the next step? How can we jump the Watchdog queue to make this public? Are VOSA even accountable to anyone?? Do the AA, RAC even care to know? Is it even their duty to inform people when it's not "officially" a fault?...
I and several people have already emailed watchdog with no response... aside from flyering every single 2.0 VAG car you see, I don't know how we can get this publicized without forking out an arm and a leg's worth, which nobody here will do...

Looking at the cars paperwork I can see on the 6th of June 2011 injector number 1 has been replaced FOC.
Should I be concerned about the others failing?

Hi Yarsir, Mine were the same all changed back in September last year before I bought it. I was still worried so contacted Audi UK who advised to book it in anyway and they changed all 4 injectors. I would send an email to them, cant hurt.
Nope still waiting for mine to!
Emailed Amie at Audi on Friday, got a read receipt yesterday but no reply.
The reason i was asking because VW just changed all 4 injectors on my mrs 140 Passat .

I just chased Amie up again, for the FULL amount of the repair work... 3 failed injectors and they still have the nerve to reduce my refund amount...

Hi all, iam new to the forum. I have a 57 plate A4 2.0tdi 170. A injector went on mine last Wednesday and had it repaired at a non Audi garage. Cost me a arm and a leg! I wish I had seen this forum first. Iam about to email Audi regarding this to see if they will replace my other injectors. My Audi has only done 66000 miles, I thought these cars last for years! Problme is that the garage told me the others could go at anytime without warning and it frieghtens me to drive the car now! I'm thinking of selling it it. Its a shame as its a really nice car! Dont suppose Audi are refunding money for work done on injectors by non Audi dealers?

Just call / email audi customer services, explaining your concerns.... ie safety etc.
They should then arrange for it to be checked at a local audi garage, and replace the injectors & loom for the updated versions.
Previous posts on this thread have also had previous injector replacements refunded.... even if it was at an independant garage.

I'm pretty sure they are refunding for work done by indie garages.
Get on to customer services and voice your concerns and they will replace the remaining 3 and the wiring loom which should give you peace of mind.

They have told me they will refund me the £2100 it cost but I'm still waiting just like most who had it repaired at a main stealer!

Just got another call from Audi UK, they refuse to refund more than 2 hours labour on the repairs. Nevertheless, I was advised a cheque was raised again on the 10th, so only 16 more days waiting for whatever was left to be refunded...
Also, any new people having failure, please keep reporting to VOSA and please "like" the facebook page started so that others abroad can benfit from the progress we're making here, if it gets enough "likes", then moderators elsewhere can use it to get their local authorities to act.

a4 avant 56 plate 170ps 70,000 miles engine cut out at 60mph plug light on luckily on a straight road and coasted to a halt.
my wife was driving with 12 week baby in the back driving back though wales from a holiday, if that had happened on one of various mountain roads we had just driven though we just wouldn't be alive.
i will post this message to audi uk in the hope they will make an official recall.
i found this forum after booking my car in the the work to be done but before taking the car in (the service person seemed aware of the problem and quoted £600 plus to repair) only after reading this did i realise the car had no brakes power steering (my wife said the car felt funny) and how dangerous this could have been.
needless to say i will be having further words with audi why this known fault wasn't reported (car has full main dealer service history) and why they had planned to charge me for the repair.
a. n. other satisfied audi customer, i guess they just don't want us to buy audi again.... well.. job done

Had a phone call from Audi UK today regarding my email. They told me to book it in to the local dealer for a diagnostic check. If they found nothing wrong with the car they would charge me for an hours diagnostic check. The man on the phone then said someone else from Audi would call me soon as he would be dealing with my case. When this customer relations person phoned me later I asked him bluntly if Audi would be replacing my injectors free of charge. He said he couldnt comment on my case as they would need part numbers first but said there would be a strong possibility that they would.
Went to Audi Huddersfield and it seemed to be a bit of a joke there, I'll keep my fingers crossed it will get sorted out. Service man (I thought he was more a salesman myself) didnt seem to know about any problems with the 170bhp engines. Hope the mechanic knows more!

Apparently Charlie, Chelsea or something similar is now dealing with my case at Audi Uk.

Please raise this with VOSA, especailly John Fitch (John.Fitch@vosa.gov.uk). Please make it clear to him that the Audi are still charging people and their staff is oblivious to the "agreement" that was made [to shut the forum people up before it really goes public and makes them look bad, very bad]...

Audi will not refund me more than 2 hours worth of work! I would appreciate it if someone with more than that time could get in touch with me, and is willing for me to use their receipt as an example of Audi using up more than 2 hours quoted so I can get my money back in full!

. I can tell you though I dropped the car off on the 19/08 @ 9.00 and was told the car will be ready for 4.30. I then got a call from Audi garage around lunch time saying it wonât be ready until Monday? The car was ready Monday afternoon.

Bought a 2008 170bhp a4 s-line off ebay with a blown turbo for a good price.
Replaced turbo.
Car initially ran great but then suffered intermittent juddering and used more oil than diesel - seriously, 1L every 50 miles! No real smoke as such, no external leaks, weird.
Only used it for a week and it clearly wasn't happy, dash lit up like a Christmas tree with DPF light and flashing coil etc so took it to Audi in Watford when it went into limp mode and wouldn't go over 30mph.
After much investigation the DPF wouldn't re-generate (probably due to the amount of oil going through it!) and when driving the technician noted one cylinder running lean.
Cylinder head was removed and it was found that the inlet valve guide was missing on no. 2 cylinder! It had broken off and smashed up the top of the piston & scored the bore. Piston had holes melted in etc... nice.
I've got to say at this point that Audi Watford were great, and I didn't mind paying their rates to investigate, but at the point I was quoted £6k for a new engine (with discount to £4700) I called it quits and towed the sorry A4 to my indepandant Audi man (ex Audi head technician). £300 to remove & replace the engine, which I had rebuilt for £1300. I'm now in about £3000 on the engine, turbo, DPF etc.
I am 100% convinced the faulty injector caused the whole piston meltdown / turbo death situation! Its a Siemens injector, SIEMENS 03G130073M.
I am just waiting to hear back from Audi to see if my injectors will be replaced, as now the engine is back in but I daren't run it with the old ones. It is refreshing to read this thread and see many people have succeeded with this... cross your fingers for me!

just had all 4 injectors replaced free of charge, although it wasn't confirmed that they would be replaced for free until they had seen the numbers on the injectors.
have to say audi uk were very helpful and in fairness my local dealer was apologetic once they confirmed it was a warranty job.
