If you can be bothered, share your experiences.
Here is mine from this morning.......

Got my usual tube to work this morning, all was going well, had a nice seat while everyone standing were being crushed by other commuters.
There were the usual delays so all the platforms were very crowded. Didn't bother me though because I was already on the tube, sitting down on a nice seat (did I already mention that?)
Anyway, we got to two stops before I get off and then it all went wrong for me!
The tube doors of one of the carriages wouldn't shut so the train driver tried for about 10mins to get it working again. After realising they couldn't fix the train they announced that it would be taken out of service and that everybody would have to get off.
The usual grumblings and panic started straight away, but not me... I didn't moan at all, because I knew something that they didn't! :eyebrows:

I have learnt from past experiences that if you stay in your seat and let everyone else get off of the train first, when you get off there will be so many people on the platform that you'll have no choice other than to stand right in front of everyone thus being first in line for the next tube that comes in!
Now, this usually works a treat so I put my plan into action by staying in my seat right until the last minute, and when the last person left the tube I got up and made my way to the door. But then I noticed something.....
..there was literally no room for me to get off the tube on to the platform! :scared2:
There was just a wall of people who gave a token shuffle back to allow me to get off of the train, but all this managed to free up was 4mm of space.
Nothing major though, I had a plan B. This involved walking along the carriage to the next door and getting off there.
Fail! Another wall of people with no room for me to get off. :faint:

So, on to plan C... there was one last door to exit the carriage so I started walking the 5 meters to it.

About 2.5 meters through my journey I heard the beeping noise that sounds when the doors are about to close so I went into panic mode and half ran for the last set of doors. By this point I had an audience. I could see people peering through the windows at me, wondering what was going to happen next.
Anyway, I got to this last set of doors in time, and prepared myself to dive through them as they closed, maybe reaching back for my umbrella if it got knocked out of my hand during the process - much like Indiana Jones did when his hat got knocked off when diving under that big concrete door!
But then I looked up, and it dawned on me that there would be no need for diving through closing doors and reaching back for hats or umbrellas, because there was ANOTHER wall of people and NO room for me.

I gave in and just stood there, watching the doors close in front of. The escapees on the platform looked at me, and I looked back at them, sad, not knowing what would happen to me next.
For a split second I reflected. I was on a massive tube train all alone. Where would it go? Where would I end up?
It felt strange, and although there were a thousand faces only a few centimeters away, I felt very alone.

I looked around, hoping someone would save me, but there was no one. Just me and 50 discarded freebie Metro newpapers.

But then... I heard a voice! It was the driver. I was in the first carriage, which also has the driver's cabin attached.
He had opened his door and was waving to me. I walked towards him, exhausted from the sheer intensity of the situation, and he said to me........... "Here mate, you'll have to get off the train using my door".

So I did. I entered his cabin (that sounds gay), and disembarked, ending up at the back on the crowd of people that I was trying to be in front of. :faint:

The empty tube left the platform and I got on the next one 5 minutes later.

The end.

All that to tell us you bummed the drivers cabin.....

What a bizarre situation!

Only thing I've experienced similar on tube was on Paris Metro waiting to get on the final tube into the Motor Show on the Periphique. Station was so full and heaving you were being lifted off you feet on the platform almost like it was going to be a crush situation. In the end there was a risk of people being pushed onto platform so officials stepped in, but people were standing between the trains (out in the open on the joiners) to get to the event.

We backed out of th platform (took 10 mins), got to street level and were lucky enough to land an A8 3.0TDi taxi for the journey into the Motor Show. Bedlam mate, really scary stuff as the wife was with me and she's only 5ft 2.

joking aside, its mental that they allow this sort of thing to go on. Its so dangerous!
Like your experience on the Paris Metro, this morning on that platform was SO packed people were having to stand with their toes over the edge of the platform.
When the tube came in I saw it hit the bag of a woman who was standing at the front, and only seconds before she was bending down to pick it up and her head was overhanging and in the path of the tube.
If anyone sneezed too forcefully i'm sure there would've been a few people falling on to the tracks.
Mental.

Ads, that was really well put together, i actually found myself so engrossed reading it, that was disappointed when it said the end. Back to the topic though, i got stuck between 2 stations on a train a few months back. There was a fault with the engine so we had to wait for thisto be fixed. Downside was that it was very cold and icy day, and when the train wasnt running there was no heating. I was fine for the
first few hours, then the cold seemed to get to me. They had no buffet cart on this train, so no tea, coffee etc. Ended up being stuck for
over 4 hours. The funny part of the whole experience was that i had only travelled less than 3 miles.

Haha. I could've just written.... train broke down, the doors shut before I could get off, ended up at back of the queue.
But why use a few words when a million can do the same job!

I was fine for the first few hours

The first few hours!!! My god, I would have had a panic attack! Although I guess being a train which is outside takes the edge off a bit.

I love your stories dude, it's just a shame they're all made up :moa:

It was almost like something from a movie though. I'd have loved it. (apart from entering the drivers dark cabin from nehind...I wouldn't be TOO keen on that bit)

I got onto a bus feeling unwell and as soon as we got to the bus station i was sick...a lot.
I was at the back of the bus and it was empty so no-one saw. As i was walking off i could see it trickling down the bus.
I just got off and didn't say a thing leaving a big surprise for someone.

entering the drivers cabin; not sure that sounds like material I'd want under 18's to be reading!!

Send that into readers digest .I found myself engrossed in that .Take up writing short stories mate your a natural

That's something to consider. I might give it a go. :icon_thumright:

What does your dad write short stories about?

It said on the news that young uns don't read anymore, so you'll have to make 'video shorts' instead and put them on the Tube!

Blimey mate, bit of a drama queen aren't you!

Lets sum it up another way, that isn't so poetic, please don't take it personally:)

You get a nice seat and the train breaks and you decide to be a smartarse and it backfires and you poo your pants unneccesarily, and you then end up at the back of the queue, which is what happens to all smartarses eventually. I am surprised the crowded platform didn't applaud you!

Next time get off the train!

He He He

An old girlfriend of mine missed her stop in Brum and ended up in Preston, she got home at six instead of one
Oh and for the record she never entered the drivers cabin

Very funny. I went to Japan a while ago and took one of the local trains with my wife. The guardsman on the platforms wear white gloves, most probably so they don't have to touch you, when they shove you onto the train. It was nuts!
