Well I decided last night to completely de-badge my rear, I had removed the other badges but decided to remove the rings, however......

They have left a mark; I have tried polish, bug and tar remover, white spirit and T-cut to no avail. :sob:

The marks almost look like the lacquer is peeling around where the glue was,

I am sure there are other threads about this but I tried to search but it brought up everything lol

Anyone ideas how to remove this (possibly glue resin) or is this the lacquer and should I put the badge back?:uhm:

Looks like it could be lacquer. Test would be to get some Autoglym tar remover (what I usually use) and give that a go, if it doesn't come off then definitely lacquer.

Wet sand with 1500 first, then 2000 and 2500.

Finish with a 3000 trizact and buff back to shine with 3m Fastcut Plus

Glaze over with 3m machine polish and finish with Feracla Wax-Top

Job Done ;)

Yes same method will remove scratches, BUT you have to be careful not to go through!!!!

Practice makes perfect and i had plenty lol :)

Just go to a local small bodyshop and sort them a £10 just to rub and buff for you

It would take 15 min tops

We used to charge a full car detail including :

Wash
Alloys
Plastics and rubbers restored
De-tar all lower car
Wet sand scratches
Full machine polish ( 3m FastCut Plus )
Full machine Glaze ( 3m )
Wax protection ( Farecla Wax-Top )

£150 and the car would look like its just been painted!!!

It took me about 13-14 coats and buffing off of Meguiars Scratch X. That'll work! I did it on my friends A3 the other day aswell.
