right im in process of looking for a solid flywheel and clutch now i have found this flywheel for a resonable price with delivery it works out at around £150 before import duties and tax and it describes it is to take a 240mm S4/RS4 clutch so i was thinking order this then source a clutch from ECP or ebay or somewhere else and it should work out at alot less than the ecs stage 1 steel FW and Clutch which would work out around the £600 mark but this one is aluminium and 2.8lb lighter but is 3.6lb heavier than the ecs aluminium one but im not to bothered about the wieght i just want to go solid and my question is, if i went with this flywheel would it take any S4 Clutch ?

heres the link - SPEC Aluminum Flywheel - UltraRev.com - Part# SA01AB

It will take any S4 clutch, but that thing you've linked to isnt right.

I suspect its a replacement friction disk for the alloy flywheel, or an order code to convert a kit with steel flywheel into aluminium, because the flywheel itself is $499

new it was to good to be true lol may just have to stick with the ECS one then unless i find one in the UK or cheaper !! its just import duties and tax i cant be ***** paying its daylight robbery !!

Then do the S2/solid fly conversion and get the fly lightened (which i wish i had done) Mine finally gets fitted on wednesday. 7 months after getting it machined :(

I didnt bother lightening mine either. Makes it easier to drive with a standard weight flywheel anyway.

I did slightly worry that i didnt balance the assembly, but then the clutch parts arent balanced either so hopefully it wont matter!

Thats a lwfw that takes a standard sized 228mm clutch, not a 240mm one...

ECS's 240mm conversion uses a standard S4 clutch, but some other companies use bespoke parts.

Damn . . . I just can't win lol

Looks like ill just stop looking around, shut up and get the ECS RA4 stage 1 kit and have done with it lol

Is there no uk based company's that do a flywheel to take a S4 clutch ??

Spec make quality stuff.
034 motorsport sell them.

not the best judge of quality. 034 sell everything

Spec do not make "quality stuff" just google spec failures and see how many people have ripped the friction lining off their fly wheel, had the rivets pop out, had the springs on the friction plate come out, had the spring on the pressure plate fail.

I spoke to AMD years ago and he laughed when I asked him about Spec flywheels and clutches. he had just removed two from high boost turboed cars and they were in pieces on the floor of the garage.

I have a TTV steel flywheel with a Southbend clutch attached to it.

I also have a Southbend on a stock flywheel which has seen the best part of 120k and some abuse at my hands which does not appear to be giving up just yet

Ive had set up fitted finally. Its about the same weight of the standard set up but as i mentioned you could easily get it lightened. Feels great as it is. Pedal is quite light and the biting point is in the middle at the minute not at the top where it was. releasing it is a lot sharper than before. Just waiting until the bedding in process is complete and then i`ll give it some abuse and see how it gets on.
