Right Guys,

After much debating and thinking of which Remap to go for on my A3 2.0TDI 170PD, I finally got it today by the boys at AmD in Lakeside.
I can only comment so far from the drive back from Lakeside to Enfield today, but WOW what a difference!! The car no longer feels it strugles to pull to speed quickly in 1st and 2nd gear, and my, in the top gears doing 70-80mph it pulls so well it sometimes feels i have dropped down a couple of gears just to get that extra torque. Very very impressed.
I did ask about getting a REVO Remap but was informed that REVO pulled it out of production on the 170pd.
Never the less, I am more than happy with the AmD Remap, and as it has only just been done, i was informed that the car will take a bit to learn the new map, and at the moment is only using about 80% of it's pontential, so things should soon feel even better.
They tested on a rolling road before and after, here are the figures.

BEFORE:

Power: 175.6 Hp
Torque: 282.9 lb/ft @2431 Rpm

AFTER:

Power: 207.5 Hp
Torque: 326.3 lb/ft @2870 Rpm

I give a big thanks to all at AmD, they have been very professiniol from my first phone call to them, and until the finished job today, and gave me straight answers to all my questions, even silly ones! These guys can not be recommended highly enough from me.
The best thing too is that they give a lifetime warranty on the remap, also a 30 day money back, no quibble refund, if for some reason you are not happy with it, or decide it is not for you.

My only moan and regret, is that why i didn't take it to them earlier.

Cheers lads, great job :icon_thumright:

Danny, Glad to hear your happy with the remap, you never know i might get mine done too :) See you soon buddy.

Hopefully see you this week Mike.

Chappy, was a bit gutted about it, but now I have the AmD Remap, I am chuffed to bits!! Like a kid with a new toy at the mo!!:footy:

Good lad :)

Do you mind asking how much you paid? How many rolling road goes did you get?

I got my Revo stg1 today with SPS+...........must be a good day for mapping :)

Nice one Paddy. All I need now is a day to myself, a full tank of diesel, and a nice open road ahead!! Happy days:hubbahubba:

I will keep an eye out for you mate...:) you got more Torques and MPG than i did

Paddy didnt hang around :undwech:

How you finding the beast!!

Danny good stuff on the map aswell, I like the fact AMD do a custom map and give you a dynograph after to actually see what you are running!

Yeah mate, suppose that was a plus, some tuners won't give you a dynograph after. Would definately use AmD again in the future.

Maybe a cheeky little race paddy!! No doubt I'll get left behind with you 3.2 v6 beast, but I'll give it a go, lol!

WOW!!! great figures, ive been wanting to get my 170 done too, but currently don't have the pennies to pay for it. Im sure come end of the year or early next year ill be giving the AMD Essex boys a call :)

Standard performance of 175.6 is pretty surprising tbh.

Mate, you won't be disappointed with them.
I was quite surprised too with the standard bhp, but the 170 is only a guide really, and each 170 may vary it's standard bhp on each individual car, as with any other car. Yours could possibly be 173 as standard.
Either way mate, you will not regret going with AmD.

As I think everyone else has said, you won't go wrong with AMD.

They've looked after me since the car had it's first remap, all the way now to having the engine bottom end rebuilt for what would effectively be Stg4.

Superb service, really nice bunch of guys, and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

You should not take too much notice of RR figures. they are nearly always wrong. Taking readings before and after on the same RR with same tire pressures, temps, fuel etc is however a good indication of improvement. So for instance if your peak bhp goes from 175 to 207 then you most likely have achieved a 32bhp increase but the true figure is more likely to be 165bhp to 197bhp or 170 to 202bhp or even 180bhp to 212bhp. I never met a RR that didnt read high.
Bottom line is are you happy with the improvement because thats what actually matters. :)

So have you still got the dpf fitted?!?!

I thuoght the general concencus around here was to remove the dpf and then remap?

I still have the DPF in place. Although you get more power and a cleaner pipe, and also no chance of having the common regeneration problem, I was advised not to remove it by AmD. The regen problem only really occurs if you do a lot of in town/city driving where you are always start/stopping in short journeys, this does not allow the regen to kick in, then the light comes on and then you have to do a manual regen. Failing this and the light stays on, then you have an expensive problem.
But as I do a lot of dual carriageway and motorway driving everyday average speed 50mph (around 36 miles) mixed with a couple of inner town driving, then this was fine for my DPF to kick in the automatic regen.
