Carbon Wrapping Attempt

I had some spare carbon wrap laying around and having less busy evening I had a go on my a3's interior parts. It looks quite good I think. More to follow, that was only a test run, just ordered carbon wrap from ebay

The gear surround was very easy. The door trim bit more difficult. Had to re-do it as fu**** it up first time. My girlfriend's hair dryer did the job very well. In all curvy areas I just heated up the vinyl and stretched as much as it was required. First time I was afraid of overdoing it and didn't stretch enough. Very pleased with result myself. I will post up finished product when more vinyl arrives.

I have blue car with blue trims inside so decided its too much blue in my life and I need some carbon

A friend of mine wants a Corsa VXR, I much prefer the Astra, and Paullie's is just plain beautiful! Looks like so much time and effort went into that one

Yeah my is dsg so no chrome bit. If there was i would probably copy you.

Is that the 3M Di-Noc stuff? I've just ordered the 3M 1080 series carbon wrap as I got some samples sent through and thought the gloss would suit better.
I know what you mean about stretching it. I used the samples to wrap a pyrometer (just because it was very curved and looked difficult) and it turned out crap to start with. I couldn't get rid of all the ridges of excess vinyl, but on the second piece I heated it more and pulled it pretty hard and it went nice and smooth over the whole of the curve. The handle was about as curved as half a ping pong ball and it looks amazing when you get the hang of it.

Definitely worth getting some practice pieces as the parts I'm going to wrap are pretty difficult looking.
I'll let you know what the 1080 series stuff looks like when it arrives (tomorrow hopefully).

Yeah practce is the key. I still need more but slowly getting there.

I always order from here: carbonprintuk | eBayont think its 3M one but its the bubble free and quality is very good. Friend of mine wrapped his whole motorbike and it came out impressive.

good work buddy i used to have mine carbon wrapped a while ago when you have your carbon wrap do your b-pillars like i have done on mine they look awesome i think , just a thought

good man it looks so nice when done , yeah im not a fan of the whole car wrapping thing anyway but to do it in carbon just isnt my thing at all if done tastfully then its so full of win , my b-pillars are the only thing i have wrapped now i painted my trims in a metalic black now just to be different lol
