DIY Stage 1 Map ?

i was reading and doing some research about the galetto tool and i am wondering if it allows me to custom tune a map or it just allows me to flash an already done map.
The reason after this is that i dont want to load a generic (stage 1 or 2) map, my goal is to have a custom map done to suit the mods on my car.
Which means i will have an afr gauge, boost gauge and will do the tuning on a dyno
In Lebanon i didnt find any reputable shop that is able to custom tune a map, so i might try to do it myself with help of some professional Mitsubishi evo tuners. so it is a question of tools now

The tool is only used to read/write the map file on the ecu.

You would then need software on your pc to edit the file.

I don't think i would try and modify the map myself as its not as easy as just turning things up. If your taking it to “professionals” then they should already have everything needed to map the ecu for you

Is it possible to read a modified map off an ECU then flash it onto a different car?

Providing the ecu is the same, yes it is possible. It's called cloning. People do it so the always have a spare ECU incase they brick there's while trying to self tune/modify there own maps.

From experience petrol turbo engines are pretty complicated stuff to self tune, but it is possible. TDI's are pretty straight forward. I would almost certainly say if you fancy doing it yourself. Give it a go, but please buy a spare ECU to practise on! and also bear in mind it'll take you hrs and hrs to get anywhere near a pro tune if you DIY, so you have to ask yourself is it worth it. But if you can get hold of an already tuned file and flash your ecu it'll take minutes and save £'s.. but there's not really much fun in that.

For me this isn't the right ECU to start with. Has lots of 8bit and 16bit map, the axis aren't easy to find an determine, lots of conversion factors.... Using ECM you will mess it all, with winols it's very hard and it takes many time! The Damos and ect... Help but you have to know what does every map and how they co-relate.

Galletto it's good I used in the EDC15/EDC16, and it works good and in ME7.5 it scares me a little bit but until now without a problem... (clone tools talking).

I can't use Nefmoto I don't understand why.....

Tunerpro and winols. Tunerpro works well if you have an xdf for the .bin otherwise winols will graphically and numerically show the map but you need to know the locations and axis of the maps to work them.

Pretty much what I'm interested in. Taking a mapped car with the same engine and just copying a map from a big tuner. Frowned upon I'm sure but if it's possible then why not?

I await all the comments saying how much tuners put into R&D and so on but a lot of them just write a generic file to the ECU so why not DIY if you can get the file.
