Dan's S3 Build Thread.................

May have to look into that, guessing it cost abit though?

Really, try and find the thread man, £25 for front to back us a bargain.

Update.

Sorry i havent been forth coming with the updates, its been quite slow.

Well todays been a mixed bag of good and ****.

First off, after nearly 2 years ive finally got both my accidents settled, going tobe getting arounf £5000 :), to say im happys a understatment. Got some big plans for the bodywork, just need to finish buying a few pieces and book the car in.

Now the not soo good stuff.

Ordered some braided fuel line and injector seals. Both turned up today, so i cracked on with ultrasonicly cleaning the injectors, tbh its not hard atall todo, just ****** fiddly.
The new seals turned out tobe the wrong F'ing ones, they sent me 2 sets of top injector seals, i had to reuse the old bottom seals, although none of the seals looked perished or anything, they have obviuosly been leaking though as they were covered in ****e.
Secondly i couldnt fit the fuel line as i couldnt really get the clips of the lines that come off the plastic box, i didnt want to force them either as they look flimsy, whats the best way to get them off?
Lastly the cars idle is still knackered, reves fluctuate between 800-1000rpm, revs are dropping worse aswell, reves will drop to 900 then just randomly drop to about 800, then staright upro 1000 before settling at 900 but fluttering.
I havent got a clue what it is, every single boost/vac line has now been replaced, TB is clean as a wistle.

Anyway, theres plenty of pics to come this week, just ordered £200 of suspension parts so i can finally fit my KW coilys and andrews defcon bushs to some new wishbones, cant wait :).

Haha, i really want to spray it white, BUT ive got to start saving for a house so £3k's going into savings :(, if not itd be full respray and a 1.9 engine rebuild haha.

The injector seals....
The bottom ones are more chunky walled? but a tighter fit around the injector??
I had fun and games with TPS with these.
Dan... this is the slowest progress ever !
Come on lad, chop chop !

Nar paul on mine they are fine and skinny, the top ones are fat, tried to fit the fat ones on the bottom but they wont ft into tue manifold plastic inserts.

ah, Mine that i took off were far tighter fit than the loose fitting skinny new ones...
I have 4 of the fatter tighter fitting one waiting to go on ... well because i thought they were the correct ones for the bottom.

I was rocking the engine when trying to get the fat seals in, they were just too fat.

So parts have finally started turning up, BUT, ive been shafted by fooking ebay again. Got shafted with the injector seals and now ive been shafted with the ball joints i posted earlier in this thread, ive bought the same one's welly and a few others have and look at this:

The b*stards dont fit, so now ive got to f**k about sending them back.

B*llocks neil, haha.

Look i blame welly, he said they were fine lol. Anyway got tomorrow off so hopefully off to get the wishbones welded up, also finally got pics of the suspension, i really shouldnt be allowed near paint and a brush haha.

Ok so its time for a proper update :), yeah haha.

Finally freshened up the coilovers, i know no one's going to see them but i wanted to paint them (next time though ill use a rattle can and not a pot of paint haha, also i used hammerite, always been good stuff and i like the colour).
Ill let the pics do the talking:

So in the pics are:
KW variant 2 coilovers
LCR top mounts
S3 front arb bushes
Rear axle bushes
Golf 4motion rear arb bushes
S3 steering rack bush
4motion rear arb (16mm)
Front drop links
Rear drop links

Need to just paint and weld my LCR wishbones and paint them along with the arb and then im done. Was hoping to fit this lot on saturday but looks like itll be next saturday now, need to order some ball joints as i got shafted by ebay, also got some new gear link ends and wishbone bolts on order theat should be here tomorrow, ooh iv also got new bushes and bolts/nuts for the rear arms too :).

Ooh also forgot, heres my new wind deflectors:

Coilovers look good even with a pot of paint.

Why did you go for LCR top mounts over OEM ones?

Be interested to see what you make of the R32 arb, im considering one myself.

B*llocks neil, haha.

Sorry bud, that blows big time :(.

I genuinely never had any problems with the ones I bought.

I'm definitely getting me some wind deflectors they look good. You could have put a shirt on for the pic though mate :moa:

I'm getting some before the winter so that every time I have a fag in tthe rain I don't get drenched....

so many funny things about this sentence

Aaron im fitting a 16 4motion arb on the rear, not a r32 19mm.

Haha, it was too warm for a top :).

Yeah welly that does sound so wrong haha. Dont worry mate, just one of them things, sent them back and got a full refund :).

No sam, they are very pratical and also look good :).

Ok so i know ive not been on top of updating this thread but its having time with work and the misses etc.

Right ive finally fitted the new 80mm B5 TIP, proved an excellent upgrade, car drives so much better and pulls cleaner through the rev range, especially on the top end.

After that i had the coilovers, lcr top mounts and drop links fitted, no pics of them been fitted unfortunately, my mates had already fitted them before i turned up haha, they had slammed the car to its lowest settings, to say it was low was a understatement haha, couldn't even go over speed bumps, so i raised it 30mm and its still low.

Today i also got the wishbones, ball joints, 16mm rear ARB, front and rear ARB bushes and the steering rack bush.

So the suspension is virtually done, all i can say is, its unreal, the car just sticks and sticks, the faster you go the more it wants to grip, only managed to give it a quick go earlier as ive got man flu and felt like **** and thought i was going to chuck my rocks up haha.

Also got pics to follow of the welly style fmic and all the pipework, sorry theirs no pics but ive got plenty to post up tomorrow.

Ooh i also forgot to add, upon inspecting my old wishbones, it seems their the ultra rare 30mm front bushes ones, could not believe, i went to the trouble and ex pence of having some defcon style bushes made (thanks to andrew) and i already had the god damn 30mm wishbones haha, ooh well.

Anyone got an idea what they are worth?

Haha i know mate.

Not yet, not had the time, need to cut the end tanks off, measure the 63mm bends up, cut them and then get over to daves to weld them onto the cooler, not had a free weekend yet for the last 2 months :(.

Sorry my old wishbones, their the original 30mm bushed wishbones, no defcon bush insert etc needed.

Ooh yes :), just need to get time to fit :(.

Sleeper Style is the way forward !
The Wide Mouth Frog look just doesnt work for me on an S3.

Realy?
I think its as much a style choice as function.
