First car 8P or....?

im waiting for my 1.6tdi and all i have to say is why would you wanna go over the speed limit;)

get 1.4 diesel corsa...£30 tax for the year lol...

in my opinion id say get 8p if you havent already decided. 8l is dated nowadays

Iv got a 8p 1.9tdi im only 19 nw. Had this wen i turned 18 and my insurance is 1100 fully comp. So not that bad. The pull on a 1.9 tdi is just perfect for me atm. And there not that expensive atm either. Should consider one of those. Only issue is its a litle loud but thats only wen stationary.

Apparently the 1.2 TFSI is tax free isn't it? I remember the sales men at Audi talking to us.. told me the 1.2 TFSI was a lovely engine, very smooth and responsive.. but has never driven one..

£35 for my 2010 2.0 tdi 140. They don't even offer a 6 month option haha

'thats sick mines £120. is it better on fule than my shape mine's awsome on fule. and is it quicker

I think the 1.6 Audi is a very nice car to have if your 17, I had a 1.2 sxi corsa and my first insurance quote was £3500 so I ended up on my dads company insurance, then I couldn't handle that little car anymore upgraded to a BMW 1 series 2.0 diesel, but now I have the 1.6 fsi a3 and I can't complain ATM its a good car and I cruise down the motorway at 100mph no problem.
Although I am sourcing out a newer Audi 2.0 diesel now I love that engine. I think you would be surprised and really like the Audi.

The 1.2 TFSI is a lovely engine in a Polo, but it lacks pull for the extra weight of an A3. The 1.6 is okay for a first car - but you get similar power and better fuel consumption with the 1.4 TFSI... that would be my choice (and very nearly was) if you can't get insured on the 1.8T or 1.6/2.0TDI.

Have you tried running a quote with the 2.0TDI 140? I found it was cheaper than the 1.8T to insure ... then made up the difference by bumping up to the 170 quattro.

It's amazing on fuel. Best I've had is 77 mpg over a 27mile drive extra urban type driving at about 55-57 mph. Had to try it once and was shocked.

Needle only moved on the fuel once I hit 120miles on my most recent tank. Problem is I try to drive slow manage it for a few days then get bored and the foot gets planted!

I don't (can't afford to) these days. If Audi were to fit the 1.2T or 1.4T into the Black Edition range then I wouldn't be driving around in the 1.8T now. Fact.

I wish I could have got an A3 1.6 for a first car. Had to settle for a 1.25 Fiesta which seemed quick due to the size and weight but was walked all over by 1.6s. Oh the olden days :) (only 5 years :p)

My mates all had 1.2 Clios (crackin' little cars) but I just bullied them in my mum's 1.8 Focus. It was a great car, and very cheap to insure. Maybe look at getting something cheaper than an Audi to start with and wait an year to get some NCB up. A3 is a nice choice as a first car, but I feel the 1.6 lets the side down just by lacking power and not handling the weight of the 8P.

Why didnt you just get an s-line 1.2T or keep the 1.4T you had?
Wasn't overly happy with the black one as it didn't have the options I wanted and come the time of buying this one I got a good deal on the Black Edition

Mine is £260 a year. Annoys me that the S3 is now "cleaner" than my car and is less to tax. I remember when diesels were more to tax than petrols because they were considered dirty!
