ASN's Pub

'ello girls! 2nd day, wrong time to have had a few last night lol

Westy - epic mug!

Scott - plenty of that kind of cider in my pub, I could see if I could take a half empty bag in a box for the weekend???

Do it mate. I'm going to bring a little bit of drink with me, I got a massive drive back on sunday so i'm going to get to drunk.

You dont want me around then :whistle2:

I only got my first credit card just over a year ago but I'm well behaved with money so I'm ok. Most of my money tends to go straight into savings.
You one of the good ones. I'm crap with money.
The amount of money that leaks through my fingers and I end up with nothing to show for it is shocking.
One reason why I gave up my bank account rights and give all my money to the wife.

ps credit cards are the devils creation, I hate the idea of owing a bank/company money - saving up for the win!
Thats my thinking now, if I don't have the cash then I'm not buying it.
I don't owe any one any thing I hope to keep it that way. Until I buy another house. :(

I have no loans and my only monthly direct debit is for my mobile phone. The credit card is for emergencies. I'm looking to get a mortgage next year which will be when everything will change :(

And it does.
Its such a great feeling owning your own home.
At the moment I can't wait to remove my name from the fecker and start again down here.
Don't buy a house and not own 100% of it. I did 50%50 with a mate and regret it now, great the time but ****e now.

No credit cards, no loans, everything goes out via DD on the 1st of the month leaving me with my money for the rest of the month :)

Got about £30k for my mortgage, which i've just been adding too for the last 9 months whilst the conveyancing has been going on....or not. I'm a 1st time buyer trying to buy an empty property and it's taken over 9 months......

My gf and I will have a pretty big deposit so we're hoping for a small mortgage so we dont cripple ourselves. I cant wait to be doing DIY and posting up pics in here like Crazy does ;)

Thats a bit stupid.
why is it taking so long?
It should not take that long at all for a no chain property.

Nice one mate.
Me and the misses is trying to save at the moment but its taking so long.
Sod it, might ***** all savings on lottery tickets. lol

Morning Scott, W3sty, Dane and Smudge. Sounds like you all putting the world to rights this morning. I must admit im impressed with
your talk of bank/credit cards. Most young people today run on overdrafts and maxed out credit cards. You cant beat just plain old cash.
Scott, i could go a nice cup of that hot chocolate please. i have woken up with a full blown cold, just what I dont need. W3sty, i want pics of the flip flap manouevre or it didnt happen, lol.

Tell me about it!

Had to 1st of all extend the lease on the flat before i bought it, fair enough that takes a few weeks. It actually took almost 5 months coz the sellers solicitors are morons!

Then they were telling my solicitor that everything was being sent to them, but never actually sent anything causing endless delay

Then found out that the freeholder has a mortgage on the block, so his solicitors needed to write to his lenders to get consent to extend my lease. They asked him for £400 to do this, which he paid to his solicitors. 3 weeks later we had nothing, and his solicitors asked him for another £900 to write a fecking letter!? So we've waited for another 3 months for this to be sorted, still not there yet

Fcuking doing my nut in, but the worst bit is i've started to look around and nothing compares to this place for the money :(

Pics?

I want a damn video

I went overdrawn by 7p the other day. Yes 7p  within minutes my bank rang me and asked me to have a meeting with them

Errrm, no thanks. I'm fine, just paypal took my fees on an odd date that i wasn't expecting

Banks seem desperate these days to get you in to then try and sell you each and every one of their products

Morning Sandra.

It does sound like we are all quite sensible with money. I'm the same as my old man, he's been great at money management all his life. I'm affraid I have no video evidence of my footy skills, I'll showcase them at AITP :arco:

7P! Sounds like you have a problem mate, I'd go an see a financial adviser :)

This was pretty much the gist of the phone call from RBS

I just replied with "it's 7p, i'm sure i'll be able to find that money from somewhere. I'll start by looking down the back of the sofa. Thanks anyway"

You guys are good with your money!
Ive got a loan, and still paying off a credit card from when i was younger. Not saved anything yet for a mortgage...renting in london is a ******. I think i should go to you guys for financial advise rather than those at the banks!

I had a loan of £5k when i was 18 and stupid, paid it off pretty quickly though

I live in London as well mate, currently renting a studio for £650 a month. My new place will have mortgage repayments of about £400 a month  but i am paying £150k for a 1 bed flat in South London. Prices are ridiculous

I had a £12K loan on my old Renault Clio 182 when I bought it brand new, paid it off a good 4 years ago now though.

I'm looking at 3 bed detatched houses with a garage (very important), in the Cambs area for between £160k - £200K :)

I am really quite impressed by you all, its quite refreshing to read this in this current financial market. I was always taught by my late dad, if you dont have the money in your hand to pay for something, then you cant have it. If you want something badly enough you have to
save for it. when you have all the money you need, you then ask yourself, do i still want it. Sorted. This of course excludes things like
mortgages, though, the bigger the deposit you have the better it is in the long run.

Exactly my philosophy

I'm saving whatever i can for the house, although i have my deposit, i'm always adding to it for legal fees, fridge, sofa, bed etc for when i eventually move in

I could have spunked £30k on a lovely A5, or a load of mods for the Mondeo but house comes 1st

If i don't have the money, i can't buy myself luxuries

Thats very wise, all you need is the basic items to get by on, everything else can wait.

I'm having to look further away then where I currently live at home because £200k will get you a 2 bed flat if your lucky!
W3sty, all good things come to those who wait.

The ex wanted me to move 80miles from work to be with her. Fair enough i could get a 3 bed house for £150k but sod doing a 2 hour commute to work everyday

Exactly. Much rather have a roof over my head with no toys that a load of toys with no where to put them

I'm watching original Batman on ITV4. It's fecking hilarious!!!

flats are gay full stop, Smudge make sure you become a director of the management company otherwise feckwits will be in charge.

I keep spending money on the car so I have savings and then I rinse them lol, speaking of which, your thoughts please pubbers!

It's going to be about 5k to GT3071R my s3, and I've got 3k saved up now, should I go Big Turbo (c. 450 brake), buy a standard b5 rs4 or a heavily modified 400 brake evo 8? (other suggestions welcome, 8p s3's are out of reach and would still take a fair amount of work to get to c. 400 brake).

The thing I keep coming back to is running costs, even with all the power parts for the s3 are just so available and generally not that expensive... as I say your thoughts please peeps.

W3sty, all good things come to those who wait.

You are very right Sandra.

I always hoped i'd have my own house by 29 but you cant always plan everything. I moved out with the ex and was renting but that obviously went pete tong. I've been able to save so much more since being back at home and also afford luxuries like my car and my Arsenal season ticket (maybe cant be classed as a luxury!)

ZOK! POW! BOOF! THWACK!!! BIFF!!!!

:lmfao:

OMG I'm nearly crying with laughter!!!
Thats a blast from the passed. It looks so stupid by todays standards, but its hilarious all the same.

Don't worry mate i'm well on top of that ;)

With regards to the cars, i would rather the RS4. Always loved them

Dane I think your problem is you've set yourself a BHP target. Your car was a very fast K04 when you took me out for a blast when I first met you. Why dont you just aim for a maxed out K04 280+bhp and enjoy it, saving the rest of your money?

Hey W3sty, life has a way of testing us. The thing that you have to remember is that maybe at an earlier point in your life, you werent
or ready for the financial commitment of a mortgage, now you are. I worked really hard and owned my house outright by the time i was
35, but there was sacrifices alng the way. Hey your a guy, a football season ticket is allowed.

Not for Arsenal it's not :lmfao:

Not quite I'm not too fussed about the figures I MUCH rather have a car that drives well, but I'd love a properly quick car, the only option I now want to take with the s3 is a Garret which is where Bill suggests the 450 figure and if thats what achievable with 5k it seems sensible to aim for cars around the same level.

I havent got mine back yet and it might feel awesome, plus I don't have to make a decision now.

Your sensible option is niggling in the back of my head too.

I would love a super quick car too but I wouldn't go out to make an S3 that car! I'd do like you mentioned above, get an EVO. One day I will own an S1 Lotus Elise with either a Type R engine or a 1.8T engine, that would murder most stuff road and track for around £14K ;)

hang on a minute... you'd rather watch a bunch of fannys falling over than Rugby...

Watch a game of Rugby and then watch a game of football straight after and football just seems to dishonest and unsporting, not in an athletic way but in a conduct way.

all of course imo
