HI LADS, I HAVE THE BRAKE LIGHT BULB WARNING ERROR LIGHT ON THE DASH.
I HAVE CHANGED ALL THE BULBS INCLUDING ALL THE HIGH LEVEL BRAKE LIGHT ONES.
CHANGED THE PEDAL SWITCH.
THE CAR HAS A TOWBAR, SO I HAVE CHANGED THE SOCKET, AND RE-DONE ALL THE CONNECTIONS AT THE REAR OF THE LAMP.
BUT STILL THE WARNING LIGHT IS STILL THERE.
NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Are they the correct bulbs for the brake lights?

My understand is that the light bulb sensor is done on resistance, so if its getting to much (or is not enough?) it throws up a bulb out error.
I'd check you got the correct bulbs fitted.

Its a current measuring device. But your right, wrong wattage bulbs like 5w instead of 21w would mean not enough current is drawn and the light would stay on.

DEFINETELY THE RIGHT BULBS ARE FITTED-21/5W DUAL FILAMENT BULBS. ALL BOUGHT FROM MAIN DEALER TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE'NT CHEAP QUALITY.
WHAT IS THIS BULB MONITORING BOX, AND WHERE CAN I FIND IT IN THE CAR?

sorry about that scott, hope i didnt damage anything. haha.
have you been to this audis in the park before.
i am heading to wales next friday for a weeks holidays(i'm based in ireland), and i am debating as to go or not.i think its about a 3 hour drive from where i'm staying.

Thanks. :)

First time this year.
If you're over here and will to make the trip, do it.
Its going to be worth it and we need more B5s on the stand.
There's so many A3s at the moment. lol

definetely going to try.wife is up for it(she drives a b7 115 tdi saloon), but i have 2 kids under 11, so its going to be a bit of a trek for them.
i hope your not expecting my b5 to brighten up the day. i do love her but shes not the prettiest girl in town, only have it about 6 months and she still needs a bit of tidying up.
decent parts and stuff are hard to get over here and are crazy money.
i got a febi control arm kit fitted this week and it cost 650 euros.couldnt get lefemer kit for 3 weeks and even if i did it would have cost and extra 200 euros.meyle set was the same price as the lefemer.
i will be on the look out for some bits and pieces in the uk i think while i'm over there, and hopefully it will bring mine up to scratch.

i'm in the process of buying some control arm kit for mine.
Looking forward to the work but not the spending.

There is loads for kids to do at the park as well. so it could be a family day out for all.
check out wicksteed park.

totally confused now.
while driving today, the warning lamp disappeared.
if anyone else knows anything about this bulb monitoring box can they let me know.cheers.

i've stripped this apart too scott, but all seems fine, and no usual water leak as reported by many.
changed all these bulbs too.
hopefully it might stay off for a few days, i have to do an mot retest on wednesday!!!

I doubt you'll fail an MOT for that light anyway. At least you wouldnt in the UK.

The bulb monitor box is in the central electrics panel behind the drivers knee bolster, its one of two double width relays, and is identifiable becuase it has a list of wattages on the side.

cheers aragorn, over here the mot(or nct as we call it), if you have any kind of warning lamp on the dash it is an automatic fail.
thanks for the location of the monitoring box, will have to see if i can find one in a breakers yard.
