I have recently spent the guts of 1kpounds(may not seem like much to some) with a well known garage/shop. Now it was in 2 different purchases, but I contacted them and asked could they combine it into 1 order. Yeah no problem was the reply. So 3 weeks on now and they have only just received the first items I ordered. I contacted them yesterday as I have done twice a week for the last couple to find out what is going on, only to be told that the orders had not been combined and would I like them to be and that some of the parts they still dont have. So I replied asking how long it will take for the rest to arrive, but yet to get a reply.
Now this would be a very well known place(will be named when I finally receive my parts). **** me do people not keep any stock anymore, dont give a sh!t about how long it takes. I know I deffo wont be going back to them again.

It does my head in when places have 'in stock delivery within 24 hours' on their site then after you order and pay you find out its on back order and will be about 5 days but they cant be sure.

Putting items as in stock and available for delviery on websites when they are not and taking payment for stock they don't have should be illegal, its short term fraud.

I dont see the point of threads like this without naming and shaming...

A bad culprit for this mallarky is AWESOME, ive recently purchased goods from them and now im getting bombarded with emails because although it says in stock, i have to wait 2 weeks now!! They dont mind taking your money but theyll have you wait around no problem...

I spoke to someone regarding the stock levels shown on a website. Aparently it costs thousands a year to run the autonatic update system. Hence why they stock take manually and have to adjust stock levels manually on their system.

Or just say everythings in stock and then send the drivel emails after with the truth of the weeks and weeks of waiting time...

Don't know about the rest of you but if I went on a site and it said 'out of stock' I would go elsewhere

Just some food for thought :)

If I need a apart I kinda need it now; so yes if a site said out of stock I would go elsewhere, simply on the basis that if it's out of stock they cant supply it to me when I want it, i.e. now, It woudnt stop me considering them in future but the whole point of online buying is you get stuff fast, not in a week or three's time due to no stock. They either need to stock more, or have better stock control systems to avoid dissappointed buyers. Simples dont advertise what you can't supply, or let people know its not in stock.

Alot of these Internet based companies don't have alot of stock backup, saving on storeage and staff.
They will forward on orders direct to the manufacturer(ie china)
putting out of stock on an item will potentially lose them a sale.
Wrong from a customers view and a right pain in the ***

Theres your answer right there. If Awsome`s web site said out of stock, you would go elsewere and they would lose custom and your money in there bank. Alot of places do that. Always best to ring them first to check the stock level before ordering.

My sincere apologies if you have been bombarded with e-mails, I'm not entirely sure how this has happened as we only send out one e-mail informing the customer that the item is not in stock unless you reply to us with something requiring another reply.

I'm sure it's better for us to inform you than not to inform you of the issue at all though.

Could you please take a screenshot of where on our website it states any information regarding stock

everythings in stock
as far as I am aware we do not have ANY stock information on our online shop!

They will forward on orders direct to the manufacturer(ie china)

Just to make sure we're clear on this, but we don't buy any of our parts from China!

Always best to ring them first to check the stock level before ordering.

That's probably the best thing you could do!

If ANYBODY has any concerns about any of our business practices, Please feel free to call us. We are more than happy to discuss any problems and are keen to resolve any situations!

Kind regards, Al.

The whole point I was making is that if I buy something I want it within a day or two of ordering, online traders want the business that would normally go to local dealers & parts stockists but often fail to deliver due to not having the freakin stock. In other words having a great website that has load of parts at great prices is about as much use as a concrete parachute if they dont actually have the parts in stock for 2 weeks. I may as well go to a local motor factors get the part and have my car fixed right away even if I have to pay a few bob more.

Oh i'm not arguing with ya. I feel your pain.
I'm just saying in future i would ring them, speak to a actual person who can give you a live stock update over the phone before you order. Its no good looking at a web page, clicking order then expecting it on your door step the next morning. I ordered a 55inch 3D TV online, they said they had stock, then i got an email 4 days later saying it was out of stock and would take 4 weeks to get back in stock.
I then rang another supplier, found out live stock, placed the order and 3 days later it was sat in my room..

Moral of the story, don't rely on a web site.. speak to a actual person before giving your money.

I dont thing bag awesome is going to help you can't have ever part in stock just think of the size warehouse you would have to have. I like to have parts like now and if thats the case go and pay more for it.

Concrete parachute lol!

Never heard that before :)

Must depends on what parts you order I think. I've bought a few parts from Audi so know the lad quite well who works be hind counter now lol

Let's be realistic here, not even Audi stock all parts off the shelf, you need to order them and pick them up in around 3 working days later...

Keeping stock on the shelves is dead money, and with specialist tuning parts, obviously there's going to be a longer wait/delay to get hold of them.

I'm not defending tuning companies in any way, but they are not going to stock a pair of Neuspeed ARBs in 22mmF/19mmR for us 8L S3 owners, and not knowing if and when they are going to sell.

I'm with jojo on this I work for a world wide firm we have stuff shipped in as we need it.
