The TQS Owners thread

Universal foglights on brackets could be used guys, as long as they look good and do the job then you don't need to worry about fitting the originals back on... this is what I shall be doing :)

I'm not bothered about having fog lights for their use, I just want the car to stay as original looking as poss, and don't really want the IC pipes poking through

17hrs and counting to do 1 CAD drawing. That is going to be perfection! :lmfao:

Yeah sorry, I was in Hull for my girlfriend's graduation, so I didn't finish it :D... will soon though...

As Syvo said, the stock piping, as confirmed with my bumper off, is 2.5" (63.5mm)

Syvo - I'm going to buy the F23 mate......

good lad alex when you looking at getting the F23 im still sticking with my stage 2 plans then start saving for the beast aka R33 GTR

Hopefully very soon mate. Labour charge is going to be a *****, so I'll probably have to wait a bit until my funds are replenished before I get it tuned with fuelling sorted out etc. But should be able to run it on the map I have now on low boost for a bit... :)

gd gd i would look at your brakes also duno how well the s3 brakes will cope with 320 ponys 4 pots would be on the cards imo,
2 years till can change me car so will be on ere for a good while lol

Realistically, unless I actually start driving faster, which I won't, I shouldn't need 4pots... But once I get it tuned i'll definitely look at something better..

Well, if you fancy helping me fit the turbo..... :p ....

lol nay to fitting the turbo m8 most bits engine wise i touch i break lol leave engine to me bro i do the rest.

Chris - I've bought the Toyosports intercooler, I'm giving it a go tomorrow. If it's not a good fit, I'll take my CAD model to a local welding place and get them to weld something up quickly in 2.25" perhaps, and see how well it fits. Other option is to use more flexible hose than alloy pipe.

I'll let you know how it goes mate :D

Any joy with the intercooler mate?

Also, are any of you going to AITP?

I do like the sound of the FMIC though, with the reducers as well I hope Mr Westy?

Ah mannnn I'm going to Iceland on the 7th August - gutted :( oh well we'll have to all meet up again soon.

What intercooler are you getting off Westy?? And yes I fit it last weekend, lost the right fog, but kept the left, I'm very happy with it, my inlet air temps have almost halved lol...

I also fitted a turbosmart boost gauge into my drivers side right air vent - looks ACE. Pictures and temperature logs to come when I have time..

Pics needed, with only 1 fog, does your car not look like it's winking? :lmfao:

I think I might have to lose the fogs..

I'm getting his core that didn't work on his S3, I'm confident that, although it didn't do any good for his s3, the 50ish bhp difference between our cars means that it should be alright on mine

If you loose 1 fog you might as well loose them both!

It's not so much the BHP that's the issue mate it's the boost and the heat the turbo creates. My K04 at 22PSI was creating an obsene amount of heat which is why the smaller core wasn't upto the job. Prawn runs the same size core as the one i'm selling you on his track car so you should be fine.

Hmmmm, sounds likes sales patter... Only kidding mate, if the core on Prawns track slag can handle the heat, I think my sensibly driven A3 can. I've never even taken it past 4000rpm anyways :whistle2:

That was my point about the fogs, I wouldn't keep 1, as I think it'd look a bit weird. Black pipework is the way to go, for maximum subtleness.

Yeah I just can't be bothered to take the bumper off AGAIN and unscrew the left foglight lol - at least for a few weeks. I lacerated my hand pretty bad with a stanley knife when I was cutting bits off the back of the foglight trims, so I just left them off. I'm going to spray the pipes matt black and put some black metal mesh grill where the foglight trims were. Should look perfectly good :)

W3sty (what's your name btw mate?), my k03s is running 21psi peak (tailing off to 13-14psi), then again since the compressor housing inlet is larger in the k04 it should boost at a lower level ? My Inlet temps were 50degrees idle and 45 degrees WOT before my Toyoports FMIC... now they are (IIRC, i'll have to check the logs I did) around 35 degrees idle and 27ish degrees WOT, which is a SIGNIFICANT difference don't you think Chris :D :D

P.S. Chris, my **** don't you take it over 4k rpm :p - how much boost are you running?

In fact, that's 21psi with my REVO SPS set on 7,6,7 for boost, fuelling and timing, I'm going to up it to 8,7,8 in a few days once the intercooler has settled in, and see what happens. Maybe one of my intercooler pipes will pop off lol. Then again, they've got those Mikalor hose clamps on (nice and tight) which are the best you can get :)

That's pretty impressive difference in temperatures, could you do a breakdown of the pipework you used mate? I had a bookmark with a3 pipework, but it's gone.

No, your right, the car generally gets a bit of a pasting. No idea on the boost front mate...

What was the damage to the wallet for the clamps mate? And did you have to tighten it up after 1 trip, like everyone seems to have done? What size pipework was yours mate, as I CBA to go searching for it?

If you log channel 15 it will give you requested & actual charge pressure.

It was the toyosports kit mate so everyhing was included (clamps, brackets etc). The pipes were exactly the same as in this thread http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-...-ah-fab-ebay-forge-s3-fmic-image-heavy-8.html

Install was a little trickier for me as I have the DV relocation kit, but was ok. The majority of the piping is 2.5" reducing to 2" on the last pipe to the turbo. And no, I tightened the clamps very tight during install and still boosting 21psi at WOT correctly, which suggests no boost leaks :)

That was the link I had, I'm not sure whether to just source the bits on ebay myself, as it must work out slightly cheaper then the pipe kit from turborevs. What engine code is yours mate?

You can use a map sensor pipe that forge sell. The DV and N75 nipples are a bit harder to sort out.. Mine is ARY mate why do you ask?

Just wondering (that's the same as mine) as a few people have a few different engine codes.. Not sure when I'll be doing this, but once I've got the core it should make me get a shift on.. Any pics of yours whilst you were doing it or how it is now?

On a less boring note, was 'following' my uncle in his 1.8 Astra, and I easily mugged him off our local roundabout :yahoo:

Who dares me to put my REVO on Boost: 9 Timing: 7 and Fuel: 9 for the first time on my way home from work today :p ?? Unfortunately I can't put Timing to 9 as this requires *race* fuel of 100+ RON :( I'd be knocking like a biatch otherwise..

Dont do it! I may try this at the Ring though as they do some 101 octane fuel ;)

Take it out for a quick spanking in your lunch and see what happens

something on the lines of this may happen with 797

I tried it for like 5 minutes. Didn't work. The ECU pulled the timing and boost back, wouldn't boost above 21psi which is what I was running before with 8,5,9... I'll just leave it where it was before :)

no not mine zeus.

on another note the group buy on the exhaust down pipes will have to be pushed back as ive got few probs to sort before mot next saturday then gotta get car ready for edition 38 so im now hoping some time in september for the exhaust to be done

Ok mate cool. I'm holding off on the F23 for the time being. I was reading a thread about all the problems with the F4 and it's kind of put me off. Think I'm going to go CR K03/04 hybrid and get a reliable 260-270. Do you have to enter Show&Shine if you go to Edition38? If not, would be a good place for us all to meet up.
