Finally got round to getting my FBMFW fitted today. It's quite a job to say the least, particularly getting the airbag to function correctly but it does bring the interior up to date and works really well with RNS-E which was the main reason for fitting it. Also fitted the dimming mirror which works well. There were a few threads on here regarding fitting these. You can just power it up which is fine but if you want it to revert to normal when selecting reverse gear then you have to run another wire which takes a bit longer. A few pics:

Good job....is the airbag sorted ?

Yes, I can't admit doing it myself though! They had to reprogram the wheel and make a custom loom to bypass the second input for the airbag. Have to hand it to them, they know their Audis inside out.

Love that wheel, looks sick. Like said, is the airbag working?

Impressive :applaus:

Are auto dimming mirrors not standard in s3's?..

Yes airbag works fine. They've done about 6 now for regular customers and all are still working - which is why I chose them. They are thinking of doing a video showing it in operation but I wasn't keen on them using my car as the donor vehicle!! For the money that it would cost to set up and the number of likely customers they would get as a result it probably isn't cost effective. Gareth who runs the company knows these cars inside out having worked for Audi for over 6 years and he gave me a very thorough explanation as to how they make the wheel work which was enough for me. I know a few other guys have fitted these wheels, Andy123 has fitted one I think? On his build thread he mentions fitting one, don't know how he did it and whether it's an easy DIY for someone in the know?

Nice, a few quid spent there.....

Yes Dave it wasn't cheap but as I'm keeping the car for a few years I was happy to get it done. Now just the turbo to play with........Bill and Tufty must be ready for another S3 by now eh??

That looks really well, Who did this for you?

Is it possible to adapt the steering wheel controls for an after market head unit ? or is there one available that's not multi function but just looks that good ?

Hazzy Dayz have done all of the install including the RNS-E. You can get a wheel without the controls (ebay) but don't know whether the controls would work with an aftermarket head unit. A professional audio fitter should be able to shed some light or AndyMac?
