how about 5 door focus ST maybe? Same performance but real sound and good grunt. Shi* interior though but you can solve this easily by using 10kg of foam filler

I'll agree with that, before buying my 8L S3 I sat in an ST, opened the glovebox, shut it and walked away never wondering if i'd like one ever again

They are better once mapped but for a 2.5 litre turbo they are gash i've found, mapped S3 versus mapped ST isn't far off but it isn't comparable in real terms

mapped S3 stage 2+ would destroy any ST I reckon in terms of quality, looks and performance. Had 2 STs before and just couldnt stand perma rattling and losing grip from stand still. My mapped TDI is not far off standard ST but looking to get S3 S tronic in near future just because I found diesel boring to drive (1st gear is a joke, turbo lag, constant gear changes, etc) and hardly any birds turn their heads around when they hear me coming .

I think a standard S3 would outperform a standard ST no bother nevermind a stage 2+ S3, I think a standard S3 would give a remapped ST a run for its money...

well ive had a few plays with ST's in this and my old stage 1 8L S3 and they have never given me any trouble at all.....infact i'd go as far to say a Type R civic (properly driven)would do a standard ST having been against both many a time......

Redejavu - You've just sealed that for me, i was sat at work thinking I hardly boot mine anymore i might aswell get a diesel
