S3MMA Modification Thread

well mods are going have to be put on hold while I sort this new expense...tonight while visiting my friend my I had a fight with a bollard when parking :sadlike:

Any one any suggestions where how to get this fixed its got a small dent on the wheel arch and a scratch, it needs spraying anyway as there is rust on the wheel arch...which now makes this looks worse :sob:

getting a new car is a lovely feeling, learning its dimension takes a few days! im such a nerd parking! lool so slow and i have huge space! :salute:

I know it look nasty I am proper angry with myself for doing it, going to ring around a few places for quotes today. I just hope it will be an easy fix with the dent being on the actual wheel arch

There will be when I get going, I work full time through the week... all the work will take place over weekend!! I only started this thread on Monday calm yourself!

Ouch, I did a stupid thing in my old 106 GTI, was reverse parking watching out for a tree, and didnt see a wooden stump and reversed in to it cracking my bumper.

There is a place in Trafford Park called Car Cosmetics who specialise in VAG paint and body work.

Thank you! I am so annoyed with myself, my friend as a new TT and she has done it in the same spot on her wheel arch, she thought to tell me afterwards I shouldn't of parked there!!

Have a few drinks one night (to numb the pain of what you're about to do), go out to your car in the dead of the night. Run a key across every panel. Tell the police your car has been vandelised, log a claim with your insurance company, car gets taken away for repairs and full respray. sorted.

I wouldn't dare do that, would it not go down as a claim as well?

Oh and please dont call me "Fingers Westy", I've got a bad enough rep as it is :whistle2:

:lmfao: we are a mean, lean, thread derailing machine!

Sorry Emma

I would budget £150 - £200 for a decent job, and it is worth getting a decent job done, a cheap bodge job wil look naff and youll end up spending more in the end as it will drive you mad if it's not right.

It's hard without recommendation to who is good without seeing there work....

My brother had a cheap respray on his BMW 318is. The clear coat was awful, and the paint had no depth. Definitely not worth going with the cheapest. If you go to any body shops ask for examples of their recent work.

anything 200 up from a body shop seems about right

Right well I have had a busy last 2 weeks so I have not been able to post any pics or get any work done on the car etc....

My car is booked in for the body work repair after my fight with a post on the 26th of next month so that is good news, I am getting any small scratches touched up as well!

I have looked into buying the original aluminium mirrors for the last 2 months but haven't found any for a decent price and if I did they would probably get stolen...so I have decided to spray mine Alu Silver which I will be doing on Sat - I will upload pics!!

Apart from that my door is still dodgy it opens now while driving so I need to replace the mechanism, however I have solved how to get the display to stop showing that the door is open all the time which is good news, I no longer have to drive around with the display saying my door is open!!

Oh...and I have come to the conclusion I have a lazy fuel pump as if I get below 1/4 tank of petrol it likes to take a few seconds to start so I think I may need to look into this, if there a full tank its starts straight away....

Everything else is good though I am enjoying the car!!

My mates got the same problem but worse, if his car gets to around 1/4 of a tank, hes literally got to get under the car and bang around the fuel pump area before he even tries starting the car, **** my self everytime, especially when your in the pub car park and eveyone's looking. Anyway, had the aa out other week when it was reall bad, the aa guy said theres a ball arm type fitting in the fuel tank, just replace that and car should be fine.

Emma did you try the clothes hanger method to get your door sensor working again to resolve this? Or buy a new lock mechanism?

Yep tried this, I think it is really knackered the door now opens freely when driving!

Well my mirrrors have been primed ready to spray today, fingers crossed they turn out looking ok...

Right well here is the result, after a full day of spraying yesterday and waiting for each coat to dry my mirrors are done! Although I lacquered one and I am not as pleased with the finish as it looks too shiny imo, I prefer the un-lacquered mirror so I am going to re-do the lacquered one and then spray them with a matt finish lacquer next weekend.
