Hi guys and girls, I just thought I'd let you see the new look of my engine bay. I had a Forge Twintake fitted a couple of weeks ago and wasn't happy with the way the bare engine looked, so Graeme at GNJ Motorsport sorted me out with a very good deal on the smaller of the 2 Neuspeed carbon engine covers. I added a small set of Audi rings and an S badge, just to finish it off a bit and add a bit of 'bling', lol. I am delighted with how it looks now. It fits perfectly with my Forge CAI. Here are a few pics.

Lovely ... Very OEM ......

Looks amazing like the rest of the car!!!!! :)

Out of interest how much was the CAI and how does it compare to the others on the market?

I bought the Forge CAI from Damian at DPM for £310 including VAT and delivery, which is a really good discount. I believe Graeme at GNJ Motorsport would be able to offer a good deal on these too. I did quite a bit of homework before I decided which CAI to buy and it seems that for CAI's with proven performance gains, the Forge Twintake and the ITG CAI are 2 of the best kits on the market for the S3 8P. Don't think there is much - if anything - between them. IIRC the gains claimed by the manufacturers are around 15-17 BHP for mapped cars. It makes a fantastic noise too, lol.

Bar the S badge that is lovely!

Thanks Boydie, yeah I'm not completely sold on the S badge myself. It may have to come off, lol.

do you think you will do the battery box next ?

Lol, now you've put the idea in my head, I might well have the battery and fuse boxes skinned by my mate, who does that sort of stuff. Thanks dude!

Are you talking about the Neuspeed engine cover or the Forge Twintake, Buddy? I'd be happy to sort out a group buy on either if there was enough interest and the forum moderation team were in favour. :)

Why don't you PM GNJ_Motorsport on here and ask him (Graeme) to sort you out a good deal? He did say for some reason that he couldn't offer a great discount on these, but perhaps if there were enough people that might change.

Not into bling bling but that looks hot mate. I was after the forge intake bur wasnt sure if the engine would look nice without the cover.

By the way did u need a retune after installing the twintake?

Oh and go team yellow :) I'm thinking about going with black roof.

Cheers matey, I know some peeps are into the 'functional' look of the bare engine without the cover, but the naked look wasn't for me. I'm just glad it fits as I couldn't find any definitive answer on the net as to whether it would or not. It would have been a pretty expensive tea tray otherwise, lol.

Yeah sure thing, yellow FTW! Go for the black roof, I say. My last car was white with black roof and it did look amazing. Would you do the spoiler black too or leave it?

Yeah thinking about doing the upper flat surface of the spoiler black but leave the vertical and next to the light yellow. I'm going with the vinyl option. Will be the last thing il do after finishing everything else.

Also my apologies but I modified the second last post asking about the air intake and need for remapping

the 4-rings and the S-badge made all the difference... the dull engine cover became one good looking piece in the engine bay now!!! wonder how is the performance? did the turbo lag reduce with the twin intake? am considering thesame mod myself...

That sounds really smart! Look forward to seeing it done. I had a Stage 1 remap on for a week or two along with the Blueflame TBE and air intake and I have to say with pretty much certainly that a remap is required with it. With the Stage 1 map it was quite laggy, but it's been transformed with the Stage 2 Shark Performance map. TBE and intake. I'm really loving it now, the power just keeps on a coming, lol!

Looks FANTASTIC, bar the S badge, but great work, best S3 engine bay I've seen

Aww thanks Hun, that means a lot, really does. Think the concensus from the guys is that the S badge must go, ..that was my only reservation about it too. x

Thanks Buddy! Performance was laggy on a Stage one map when I added the TBE and intake (both at same time),but yesterday I swapped over to the Stage 2 map and it's awesome, ..not a single sign of lag. It definitely needs a map to suit the addition of the air intake. Not only has the performance shot up, but my fuel consumption shot up to 37.4mpg yesterday on a 25 mile run, so I'm well happy with things. :icon_thumright:

I just think it'll look better without it, hey what do I know :ninja: Glad your enjoying your new map

Well I happen to think if anyone on here does know, it's YOU N8!!! Loving my new map, so so glad I went with Shark! I'm hoping I can get my DSG box mapped too at some point, ..but if not, then no matter. Shark FTW!! Not that we're biased or anything, lol!!! x

Sounds awesome. I have an APR stage one and my Miltek TBE is on its way (hopefully on a plane but sounds like its on a boat :( ) I will be getting the air intake next month (got some massive bills to pay). then get it all installed and retuned to Stage Two. Was thinking of getting the HPFP but i think il stick with Stage 2 and no 2+ and get the brakes upgraded to braided lines, Motul fluid, Brembo pads and rotors. Hopefully will be a good nice package after the front sway bar and springs go in. And thats all, for now :)

DSG software will be soon, I'm glad I waited so long with my map and chose Ben

You got a nice set up there yourself! Yeah, like you I'm going to be happy to stay Stage 2 until I get a brake upgrade and then who knows, maybe stage 2+. I hope your Milltek gets to you soon, matey. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on Stage 2! :)

WOWZERS!!

Thanks Buddy! :)

Ahh, that's great news, N8!! As for being glad you took your time and chose Ben, ..that makes 2 of us, lol.

Sorry for dragging up an old thread and I know that Paulie has moved on / sold the S3 - but I love the look of the engine bay and I love the Carbon Fibre engine cover (almost bought one on my Leon Cupra R before I sold it) I have looked everywhere and cannot find one suitable for the 2.0 TDI engine.

Anyone know of one? Or is it just worth getting one skinned in carbon? (I know a guy at C6 Carbon) And then im looking at the BMC CDA CAI (as its carbon too) Then get the battery cover and fuse box skinned in carbon too - real carbon not this crappy 3M stuff.
