Could any of you fine gents tell me if any interrnal parts for s3 headlights are available,

I had my headlights out yesterday to remove pitting and I found that the clip that attaches the inner unit to the leveling motor had broken.

So obviously headlight leveling isnt working, tried repairing it but it just breaks when you refit it. Can you get a replacement?

As far as im aware you cant.
See my thread 'superkarls overhaul'
I acquired some clips which are very similar. I've already sent 2 out to Ian_w on here, but havnt heard back from him yet. I have 2 more but they are going to dani b (sorry I havnt replied yet, but I have some for you to try).
Il get some more for you matr and let you know, like I said tho, I don't know if they work yet, but they should do.

I'm in the exact same boat mate. I took my headlight out and found that the which stick with the ball on the end that is meant to fit in that clip wasn't in it so I tried to push it in and broke the clip :(

Did you open up your head light by heating it?

Haha was about to just say you get my email karl, how much do i owe you?

Also, i need to split my headlights, whats best way? Oven? Haha.

could possibly do with a couple if you could manage it, I think only one is gone, but i better had check the other, they obviously go very brittle over time.

no i just twisted out the motorised adjuster thingy and fished it out, iv also managed to put one back in place, but it broke once i tried pushing the ball it, i honestly dont think its nescessary to split the units...

almost worth buying a new set..

I found it really difficult to get the ball back in the clip and this is how I broke my clip :(

How much are a new set of headlights???

Think about £600 each side, give or take.

I could do with hearing back from ian on whether he fitted them and they worked, but i hvnt seen him on here in a while.
I still need to fit my own too lol.

Haha good luck, ive bought a3 ones and going to fit a HID kit, cost so far is about £100 :).

just checked ETKA clips not available separately........ lame

well they look like they are designed with the adjuster in mind... you should be able to just pop the adjuster in, you obviously need to pull the inner unit back against it. Its certainly not impossible, definately not worth splitting the unit, that could end in major hairloss.

i may make my own clips with a bit of ally and a C shaped pin... bit of a ballache though.

I though ECP did them for £150/side?

Trust me I tried for ages and even checked ELSA for instructions, the fecker wouldn't go in easy.

i believe you mate, i just assumed they went in easy. I pushed mine in, but it broke the clip in the process... il put my thinking cap on and report back

Well iv managed to repair my clip! it had split down the middle so I glued it back together then cut some grooves in the plastic webbing, and wound a coil of copper wire around it to hold it together while I pushed the ball joint back in, and it's worked a treat! Better had get back to work now
