What does it do?
apart from mince around.

Um I'm no expert but basically

On top of our 1.8T engines is a small chamber under vaccum.
The N249 valve can open this chamber and force the divertor valve open and you loose boost.
It usually does this as part of the traction control/esp system.
Theres a lot of unecessary ancillary pipe work that goes with it, these perish and create vac leaks
removing all of this, running one small silicone pipe and leaving the N249 electronically connected improves engine idle, throttle response and stops the n249 ruining the fun

Westy, is your misses bringing a hair dryer to AITP?

And the random award goes to you dude!!

Time for another transcript....

Melanie:
You said that about tonight

Alex:
Hopefully this time next week we will have the house keys

Melanie:
Really?

Alex:
I know I did babe, but I wasn't expecting to have to rush the TT back together for tomorrow, or to have Fliss
Yup
Can't you cut me a little bit of slack?
Just a little bit.
Sometimes you do expect a lot of me. Like I said last night, I wasn't doing the car for me to drive it.... I'm getting it sorted so that you can!! :)
You've been on to me to get it fixed ASAP so you can use it, and that is EXACTLY what I am doing!

Melanie:
That would be fine if you didnt ignore me all day and evening.

Alex:
Boo, I was crapola last night I admit

Melanie:
Yeah - cos when we got it you said it was something simple and easy

Alex:
It is! two wheel bearings and a thermo stat.
They are easy
Just time consuming!
Not being funny but if you had the first idea abaout how much time and effort these things require to do at home, with no ramps and limited tools, you would have a little more respect for the fact I am doing them.
The work I have done this week would have been a grand at a garage.
:-/
instead it's cost about £120

Melanie:
So once you have done this, it won't need ANY more work at all?
I do 'appreciate' it, but it just seems to be a lot more than i thought

Alex:
Well, a service soon, and a few sensors, but the main mechanical stuff will be done.
It's a high performance car, not a 1.9 diesel babe. They require a bit more attention.

Melanie:
Maybe wouldve been easier if we bought a non-broken car

Alex:
This is what I mean. I'm not being funny, but you just moan about everything.
It drives me mad sometimes

Melanie:
Im going now, ok?

Alex:
lol
OK
