hi, ive seen a few people have wrapped their chrome part of the front grill. just wondering how does it come off and what wrap do you use?

ive got two weeks off from friday so going to do some little bits and bobs.

also going to be fitting LCR splitter im picking up today.

Anything else i should have a go at?

Thanks

:)

Bumper off job, some have took it off without removing bumper but I wouldn't recommend as you can break the plastic tags.

Four plastic lugs in the slam panel, two screws underneath the bumper and a few screws in the wheel arch liners either side then it slides off, washer jet hoses will restrict it so be careful.
DiNoc has been used to wrap it iirc, paint will just chip as have done it despite how many coats of laquer you put on

DiNoc? searched it up on ebay and only come up with carbon fibre wrap. im probably after plain black. i dont mind taking bumper off, had to do it before to replace a washer unit. probably easier to fit LCR splitter wiith it off too.

I haven't fitted a splitter so can't say, only close up do you see its carbon on the ones I've seen.
The surround has little black lugs which push on,comes off easy

I just got tiny flat head to help yank my grill out with no damage. Sprayed it matt black as iv seen alot of wrapping goin on. Always wanted to see a desperate dan grill wrap as i think that would be uniqe.

No need to take the bumper off at all to get the grill surround off! Use a knife, start in top cornet and it will just flick out, its suprisingly easy!

Splitter can be fitted with bumper on, easier with bumper off obv, but, you can drill the appropriate holes, then screw it on, and its possible to get your hand under and around into the bumper to secure it with speed clips. strategic trimming is needed for the splitter at the ends of the bumper, but it just takes a little time offering it up till its sweet.

I'm taking my splitter off soon to give it a fresh lick of paint ready for aitp

If you're going to fit an LCR splitter too I'd say you might as well take the bumper of. I fitted my splitter with the bumper off and it was a hell of a lot easier than laying upside down on the driveway!

yeah i think ill just be taking the bumper off, take my time with it. have you wrapped your surround then superkarl? what did you use?

cheeers for that, think this is what i see yesturday whilst flicking through some reads! ill be buyin the same.

Any thoughts on other mods i could get on with? got money to spend not much though as i had to pay off a horrendous Comet bill this month

cheers again

I painted mine satin black, and for some reason in a year it has about 2 tiny stone chips, and I do alot of miles. I dont have much confidence in wrapping so I just choose to paint. Same with my splitter, satin black.

Cheap mods:

- LED light bulbs all over. Number plate, interior, side lights, puddle lights.
- Rip out the N249 Vac reseviour and do the N249 bybass
- Bee sting ariel
- Give ya car a big claying and clean

i got the bee sting ariel, its ****e though tried three now and all given bad reception.

ive done the n249 bypass.

might do the calipers and and major clean. which colour though? red or black?

how do you polish the charge pipe? what paint do i use for rocker/inlet. something thats good with heat?

Go red calipers on a dark car, that's my opinion anyway ;)

get some high temp paint for the rocker cover and inlet mani.

You could also buy some hyper clean spray and give the throttle body and AIT sensor a good old clean up too.

haha just came back from tenerife, so dont need one just yet.

hammerite is good to use for calipers isnt it? might looks too red though as i got red stuff pads.

this stuff ok for engine?? Halfords | Halfords V High Temperature Engine Enamel Paint Matt Black 250ml

or is a spray better? anyone got a link to some good high temp paint?

i might try and snap up a decent rear ARB. not a lot on the bay though

I used halfords high temp on my rocker cover, matt finish, soon to lacquer it with standard lacquer. My inlet mani will be metallic grey gloss, not special heat stuff tho. I suggest spray! Id only use a brush on the calipers, but you need high temp stuff, i used standard paint and it burnt and went black.

cheers for that, ill buy some high temp metallic black spray, and some high temp red paint. some of its on offer too so good timing. plus trade discount.

have to get pics up of before and after.
