Hi All,

Not sure if this is the right place to put this topic, but here goes nothing.

I have my car parked up all week outside my house on the road, came to drive it yesterday to find someone has very kindly run 4 key marks down the whole passenger side, from the front wing to the rear!!!

Needless to say, im feeling very very annoyed at present!

I've only had the car 3 weeks! Thank you very much! All i can think is someone doesn't like people having nice things and decided neither should I.

Im going to buy a DA polisher to see if this will help, other than that, what do you guys think? should i go through insurance or just pay for a side respray? any clues how much this could total up to?

Will try post pics later when a bit less annoyed and have seen my mate about polisher....

End of rant.

Sorry to hear that Dan, depends on how deep the keying is as to whether it will polish out or not.

Mother F*****S want killing mate, Maybe be worth investing in home CCTV and sticking your car infront of it.

Sorry to hear this, makes me sick! If the scratch has gone down the primer (likely with a key) then you'll have no chance and will need a respray unfortunately.

Sorry to hand over the bad news!

Are the scratches through to the base coat or just in the laquer? It could be polished out if the later .
So angry to here this ,As it happened to me on both sides of a car i owned previously .Some people cant stand to see others doing well
I hope you get it sorted and keep an eye on neighbours mate !

this makes my blood boil, keying cars is a real no no for me, dont bother with insurance as they will rape you next year, you should get it painted for about £300 to £400 at the worst depending on the depth of teh scratch, tip for you, wet your finger and run it along the scratch, if the scratch fades away then it can be polished out, if its gone past the paint then you have to paint it,

Paul

Wanton damage is blood boiling, someone damaged my car but at the very least they took something to sell.

It makes your blood boil when this happens. You work hard to get a nice car and someone does this too it, hanging would be too good for them. I hope that you can just polish it out.

Jealousy mate, that's what it is.

Had it done to me, deep scratch all the way along the side, no chance of repairing myself, in the end I never bothered with it, just left it and run the car into the ground anyway.

However, if it had of been a TT I would have called the mobile scratch repairer guys out and had it done. I know a firm in High Wycombe and the guy is really good.

Gutted for you. As said its pure jealousy and its all too often these days. CCTV is good to have or a big nasty dog. Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Ah sorry to hear. I really don't understand why people bother, it doesn't benefit them in anyway! They must just be complete scum

Burn the baskets...It's happened twice to me now, on the same side. Have used lots of T-Cut, but for some reason my paint doesn't like the stuff. It leaves a horrible white mark, like as if I haven't polished it out properly

I hate mindless vandals, i had a pristine mk2 gti 8v and bought a mk4 1.8T one day and woke up the next morning and both had been paint stripped, thiat was 4 years ago and it still angers me now. I'd say get repaired yourself mate if need be. (bxxxxxxs!).

Mindless idiots dude... Have you ****** anyone off???

Thanks for all your replies folks. Made me feel a little better knowing im not the only person out here to have expericenced this cowardless act of vandalism.

If anything, its not the material thing (the car in this instance) being damaged that really bothers me (that much) its the fact that people are walking around carrying these types of acts out. I dont and will never understand these types of low lifes. It makes me wonder, what goes through their minds and also, how they have become so mindless and have such disrespect for others peoples property. I wouldnt mind if I done something to deserve this, but all I do is work hard and this is the first time I've treated myself to a decent car.

So far my mate thinks he can sort the car out for £250/300, but i just worry as he hasnt got a proper oven to bake the car, he uses panel heaters. I have been told by the call out service guys (scratch/dent wizard people) it will be about £320 but they do the car outside at my address, so i also worry how good the results could be??

Anyone used these home call out scratch/dent wizard people?

I will try and get some pictures up of the damage later today for you guys to see the damage.

Thanks again for all your replies
Dan

gutted for u man!

id wait before doing anything though incase the low life has another go after seeing it being fixed

Im planning on buying a wireless CCTV system to put up outside the car. Trouble is, i have to park quite far down the rd, anyone got recomendations for the system i should go for?

Thanks
Dan

I would personally pay the extra and get it done properly!

I have used these home repair guys 3 times. Two were for big side scrapes on 2 brand new mercs that my wife had driven, but she had no idea how the damage happened. The guy was very professional, he constructed a tent over the car, he did one of the mercs at my work, the other one at my home. When I returned the cars to the company they did an inspection, one of them was only 3 months old, they were completely happy and were unable to notice any damage.

The third time I used a cheaper firm on my own car, they didn't have a tent to put over the car, but they did an excellent job. All three times I have been unable to see where the damage was.

the Merc guy cost £500 - £600, the guy that did the whole of my rear bumper on the Audi Cab, including dents, scrapes and scratches, charged me £250. I cannot see where the damage was.

Up to you, but for my money I will now use the mobile guys as in my experience they are excellent.

Right, I have spoke to a professional insurance recomended spray repair shop, who have a proper oven to bake the paint. They are quoting me 350-400 at the moment without actually seeing the car they cannot be sure.

Ive also started to look at CCTV systems, I have a mate who works at a car alarm/stereo fitting shop and he has said i should invest 4-500 quid into an in-car CCTV system, where he will fit a tiny camera in the front and rear of the car which are wide angle cameras that cover 180 degrees. With a harddrive in the boot which will record when motion is detected and also whilst driving. This way no matter where my car is, any activity is recorded! which is ideal, rather than spending money on a CCTV system which just sits at home and only monitors my car whilst at home! I think this will be best, that way even if i do get someone bump my car etc whilst in a carpark and such like, I can see who it is and have evidence!!

Am i going a bit OTT with this? I just dont fancy being done over again like this and also I just really really want to see what kind of scum do this to peoples cars and I would also like the oppurunity to later on bump into such people!

I was looking into one of them cctv systems in my previous car due to it bieng ran up and over the bonnet & roof by some complete w@nker... was really badly dented. its just there like you say for peace of mind if it is in a car park and someone reverses into it and drives off.. you have some evidence to do something with..

My experience of getting the car done outside the house is, it's ok if you plan to sell the car and get it done a week prior to sale. But for something more longterm, I'd go with a proper paintshop with oven and pay a bit more.

I had a smart repair done to my week old Golf Cabriolet, after some **** drove into the back of me and then drove off. I had the car model and reg, but the police couldn't do anything for me. Anyways, as it was a brand spanking new car, I wasn't going to sell it soon, but over time, the repaired patch starts to fade, and you can see it's been smart repaired up close, from afar, it looks perfect.

Bad luck dude, its **** when you work hard for something and some lowlife thinks they can damage it just for the sake of being a spiteful c*nt!

As far as repairs go, as other people have said spend a bit extra and get it done properly nothing worse than trying to save a few quid and then not being happy with the end results, gutted for you mate chin up :)
