I want to put 4pot calipers on my a4 avant, but don't want the full kit. My car has 321mm discs as standard and I know brembo do a caliper to fit a 322mm disc.

My question is can I bolt this on with an adaptor and it will work or do I need the rotor kit completely?

You will probably find the other disk dimensions for the Brembo are bespoke so you'll need the full kit.

To be honest 1mm difference is going to mean sod all, that could all come through manufacturing tollerences and corrosion for crying out loud. What you'll need to check though are the mounts, so long as the caliper can be bolted on, and sit at the correct position to the disc, you're on to a winner.

I just applied Brembo stickers to my calipers after I painted them red.......you wouldn't believe the improvement I felt in the braking!

To be honest whats the point really?

Why don't you stick a ferrari badge on the back while your there.

I painted mine red and put a nice S Line sticker on there.

Point is to improve the braking, the car is a heavy car improving the brake will only help all round.

try get some cupra r calipers second hand they brembo and should be easy to fit with the correct brackets
but i found the 321 set provides great breaking just the odd fade under heavy driving but tha can be solved with pad choice dont u think the oem are any good then? my GT4 come with brembos standard and think my audi would out break it easy

Agreed, unless your doing track days the B7 321mm setup is adequate. To improve the setup I swapped out the pads for some Hawk HPS and added braided brake lines and there has been no fade to date. Just very sharp braking, improved pedal feel and very low dusting from the pads.

Well was just asking as discs and pads need doing soon, probably do them next month. Audi want £500 to fit oem discs and pads but can get mtec cross drilled front and rear for under £200 and yellow stuff pads for less than £300 in total for everything, but thought about upgrading the calipers, but if reckon braided lines will improve it significantly then might just try that and if not next time I'll add calipers

You can upgrade to S4 ones you will only need to order bigger discs (think they were 345mm) and some claiper carriers (1K0615125B - may need to double check part number) from the S4, the calipers remain the same.
oh and to pimp it out dont forget the S4 caliper spring clip (8E0615269) this will fit your caliper.

Better disks and pads avoid EBC they are crap and decent FLUID which most people forget. Should be all you need on the road.

What size discs have we got on the DTM / Spec Ed Solaris? I never can remember lol!

What engine have you got Palmer? as that will affect your choices really, since if you've already got S4 calipers on, there's not much point changing them, unless you want to go RS4 8 Pots...(Would you believe it Wikipedia will tell you they're 6 pots on the normal RS4 Brakes and 8 Pots on the Ceramics, think someone got them the wrong way round... ROFL)

If you don't have S4 Callipers, then an aftermarket set could be the better option, say a properly specc'ed set of Wilwood or AP Racing calipers with road seals, but you'd have to be careful about piston sizes, since your master cylinder could stuggle to deliver enough fluid if it's not big enough, those of us with S4 brakes, say the Special Editions and the DTM's have RS4 master cylinders which deliver plenty of fluid, but others have one half the size (easy to tell, look under your bonnet for a big black circle under your windscreen (Best way of describing it, sorry) if you have one, you've got the smaller one, two stacked on top of each other and you've got the RS4 master cylinder.

After all that, keep balance in mind, you don't want to be over braking the front as you'll actually end up with less breaking efficiency, and you definitely don't want to over brake the rear, as you'll be going all kinds of sideways.

Hope some of that's useful!

As long as your not doing track days the standard brake fluid is up to the job. Its DOT 4 fluid and has a slightly higher wet boiling point (170 degrees celcius) and Dry boling point (265 degrees celcius)than any other DOT 4 fliud i've seen.

Audi want £500 off you for Disks and pads? If you've got a 2.0ltr turbo, point them in the direction of the fixed cost promotion they are doing, it's listed on the Audi website if you need it, half that price for front discs and pads, they won't be happy about it mind and will probably try and wriggle out, but stick to your guns, it's there and they should do it.
