Dane's Hybrid Conversion Thread

Bill can we sort something out with a toyosports one easily enough if the ah one hasnt turned up by 1 or 2? pretty much fed up of waiting for ah fabs now.

And if we can keep the fogs great if not keep them to the side and we'll sort them out later.

just chased again.. baring in mind last night conversation was it was going to be delivered this morning... Its being welded now... and will be driven down by alex when done later today

watch this space

seeing is believing.. and of course fitment... is as yet unknown..
we shall see. its not got the 63mm pipes on it, I am supplying them.. (doh!)

It is rather baffling but hey ho, progress could be being made soon...

He's a brave man to drive them there though lol

alex did bring the core. landed around 4pm. we had a 'chat'

I will be finishing its welding during today

its been mounted and mocked up last night, alloy elbows marked up for cut length and bumper bar redrilled for the new mounting position

Is the larger surface area of the cooler "better" than say a slightly deeper core?
I had the option of fitting a bigger and deeper cooler than mine but oppted for the smaller i had, Either would have fitted so i could swap if it would help ?

deeper vs narrower is a balance of obstructing incoming air to the radiator stack behind... and what will fit.

no yes no answer

Yey! who loves progress, Dane loves progress!

Cheers Bill!

Yes you cheeky monkey, respraying my grill surround is on the list

Its run up.. no leaks..
on the dyno tomorrow at some point (hectic day of dynos ahead on various cars.)
tufftys will be on there also @ some point.. so some good test data will be aquired for flows vs pressure vs pressure drops vs temps etc etc etc

I know it sounds bad... but i wish you worked sunday !
just so i could come and check out badger towers !
I love reading about all things done there, but i would love to see it first hand

who says I dont work sundays.. I am here (as I am still typing this) from 10 till 5pm ish

Mrs Badger? lol
Well , If one sunday when you are down there, would it be ok for me to pop down? My daughters god mother lives down that way so... drop her off and plan on spending a load of money... good day out realy !

Bill switchs the N75 off when she drive its haha not a bad idea though im thinking of doing it to the S3 just incase anyone else has to drive mine

What does Mrs B think of her lupo having 316bhp?

she does'nt like it.. so i have made the n75 circuit switchable.. 10psi actuator pressure gives its 238bhp.. which is plenty for her. just a little more than the old k03s did when flat out.. 218bhp max out of that before it dropped to 188bhp tired out

full chat it snakes up the road a smidge - lol. new firmer engine mounts ordered to address this.
large toyo fmic to try and fit on it and one of my old ibiza clutches to sling in it as its clutch slips a bit now.
then port the turbine housing and see if there's any more to be had.

the 316bhp is with 70'c intake temps despite wmi and its charge cooler (heater)

Soooo, all those 5k launches at gti international have taken their toll, the s3 needs a new clutch LOL

Mimicking Tuffty's set up is what we shall be doing, fortunately the dmf was changed with the clutch last September so hopefully that'll be ok, but we shall see when the box comes off.

Bright side is... the car made 292 with a fair amount of mapping left to do and with the clutch slipping. And had sustained intake temps of 20 degrees whilst sitting on the dyno :)

Oh yeah and 21 degrees ignition advance and no timing pull :) :)

Oh noes :(

I said the clutch would die when I was up the other week, Wish I hadn't said it now!

I did think you were brave taking it up the strip so many times, knowing how easily S3's eat their clutches.

Can't wait to see the final result :)

When do you think you'll be down near Winchester next?

Last September?! How many miles have you covered since then Dane? :racer:

I even remember you turning up at my house in a rather standard S3 less than 12 months ago! lol

Yeah it's was ace fun though :eyebrows:

It wasn't running an awful lot of torque at inters either, yeah another week to wait yet lol

As soon as it's finished I'm coming down to yours dude :)
