Probably best to state if you are cable, adsl, etc. And do the test 2-3 times, then post best result otherwise could be misleading.
e.g... my first test was only 4.2 mbps, but the rest were at least 2meg faster.

Anyway...

Talk Talk ADSL

D/L 6.95 mbps
U/L 0.85 mbps
Ping 33ms

This thread is really helpful as I have noticed a marked downturn in connection speed on my O2 broadband,I also have had an increase in the monthly bill for the privilege....Sky here I come.

Sky unlimited, Not sure on contention ratio sky thinks 32-1 @ £7.50. Per month

DL= 10.29 mbps
Ul= 1.56 Mbps
ping = 56 ms

Strange! Usually sit at around 17 down. Test done via iPhone will try again on pc

<edit>

Via phone im getting around the same but the laptop around 13.5MB dn & 1.5MB up ping return 37ms :think:

lol
O2 are tossers,my download is 5.5 and up is 1.2,if I had any doubt they were restricting my connection then this has just confirmed it.
I am moving to Sky in a week.

O2 braodband (ADSL i guess) based on 3 runs all pretty much identical results

ping 17ms
down 12.72
up 0.97

BT broadband 8Mb

Deffo capped to buggery
Ping 41
DL 6.96
UL .38

Bulldog/Pipex/TalkTalk (or whatever they call themselves this week lol) 8Mb

Ping = 42ms
Download = 2.71
Upload = 0.48

This is comparable with when I originally signed up many years ago and is limited by the exchange. There's a Virgin Cable in the road but have no desire for them to dig up (i.e. ruin) my garden to get it to the house.

I'm getting a very poor connection between the tins in the bog and Kitchen................ I'll try a new piece of string and see how it goes..??

What makes you think thats capped? If you were running at absolutely max you'd be getting 8.1 down and 0.48 up. So not really too bad is it now.

Your "missing" 1mb down and 0.1 up will be due to poor internal wiring or length of your copper phone line to the exchange. Nothing else.

BT Broadband, FTTC.

36.50 mbps download
8.30 mbps upload
around 13-17ms ping

Quite a good connection, but the price is a bit steep. :)

I have to say, despite the high figures, the bandwidth is intermittent of late, and can drop to 2M during peak times, which effect streaming of events like F1 practice sessions.
