2.5 tdi return hoses still leaking (and replaced!) / cambelt questions

I seem to be missing something....

Return hoses are leaking at all ends, have replaced the hoses, copper washers and one way pressure valve! only leaking on left bank, right bank is fine? Are the hoses supposed to be clamped on with mini jubilee clamps at all? Thanks

also...

looking to do the cambelt etc as my thermostat is duff.

Is it really necessary to loosen the camshaft sprockets when fitting a new belt as per the audi service manuals? I have done 1.8t and 2.5 v6 (vaux) belts before but never had to loosen the spockets off and then tension the belt.?

i had this, i changed supplier for the leak off pipe and bingo stopped it. Cant help you with the cambelt sprocket, i watched for a while last belt change i had and can say the sprockets where taken off although why i cant say, maybe they obstruct the removal of the waterpump etc. Adamss24 is the man to ask, he is absolutely spot on with the v6 2.5 tdi

I used fuel hose from audi, I did replace the one way valve after replacing the hoses when they leaked again so if that was blocked it may have ruined the new pipes.

I have just put new hoses on again, cleaned and stoned everything flat including the copper washers, and made sure the valve is working.

Now for a test drive fingers crossed no leaks.

I think the idea of loosenng the cam sprockets when doing the timing belt is you can ensure the tension is good between all the rotating parts with the timing smack on.

well it's only leaking from one injector now lol, must be coming from the copper washers can't be coming from anywhere else!

The injector was replaced for a new one a few months ago, guess the mating surfaces are just not sealing very well.

Same on mine its the front injector on the left bank and the loss is too small to bother with having replaced the pipes I think its the injector seal

right have got the diesel to stop leaking, now turns out the leak on no 3 injector is oil coming from seal around the injector!

If its oil it does not seem worth bothering .Mine seems no worse a year after I first noticed it

Same thing happened to me, same L/H bank, front injector worse. Replaced with cheap pipe and it was worse, then got genuine Audi pipe and put 10mm sleeves of heat shrink over ends and its worked a treat. Bit of a ****** getting a hot air gun close enough. Have seen that Land Rover owners using Biodiesel have problems with all rubber fuel lines, and need to replace with Viton pipes, probably not necessary for us though, although all diesel now contains a percentage of Bio in it apparently.
