Hi, I have a 3.0tdi B7 avant. The problem is that after it warms up it belches black smoke when idiling or moving slowly in a line of traffic. When the car is driven normally it doesnt happen as I've driven behind it to check. Can any of you boffins advise me please.
Cheers.

Cheers mate, see this forum is just like the rest.

It might be the PCV valve, it diverts crankcase fumes to the inlet. Give it a clean.

*Note, this is what it was on my V6 Cosworth, it might be the same*

Hi mate, don't confuse someone having a bit of humour with not being helpful. Bez101 has come up with some good info and advice in the past that's helped other members. It's just that there seems to be a lot of repetitive questions at the minute as people aren't searching previous threads or the Internet (I dont necessarily mean you). Maybe that frustration comes out in some replies.

Thanks for the advice lads, much appreciated. As I am new to the forum and havent had a lot of time to spare a quick search didnt throw up any pointers so that is why I put a new post on. As I was worried that something major might be wrong I didnt see the funny side of bez's reply. Apologies if I was a bit sharp but I've come across too many smart ***** on other forums who offer no worthwhile suggestions to a question but only post to make light of someone elses problems.
Cheers.

try audizine you would love the info on there
and on here a good sense of humor goes a long way

hi buddy, you prob find its a faulty egr valve(exhaust gas recirculation valve) had same on mine. try some unipart egr cleaner and a good hi revving run after...should clean it out if its not damaged...sometimes it gets gummed up and bends the butterfly..

It's 1 or more injectors. ££££

A close friend of mine had the exact same thing on his 3.0 tdi. You got a warranty?

Thanks for all your help lads its much appreciated and apologies once again to Bez.

Fortunately for you aythreee has not replied yet.

Try adding 300ml of 2 stroke part synthetic oil to your fill up, will allow the fuel to burn cleaner and clean out your engine.

Going to clean the egr over the weekend and also try the oil/fuel mix as someone else told me about it.

If you do a write up of how the EGR clean goes, where it is and any tips, it would be appreciated.
