Help on Tyres - ZE912's vs FK452

I'm looking to buy some new front tyres, I'm currently running Falken's ZE912's and i'm thinking to upgrade to FK452. There only £5 more in price, and some reviews are good although they say you hear more noise on the roads?

I normally drive locally and a few times on the Motorway, can anyone recommend if their any good?

Ideally i need the tyres all year round.

When i have to change my tyres next i am gonna get some FK452`s as i had them on my 8L S3 and thought they were very good for the money. Personally i didn`t find them that noisy but i have heard people mention that.

If you know somewhere that you can get them fitted locally quite cheap you can buy them from camskill as when i priced up 4 x 235/40/18`s they were less than £400 inc P+P

If you want them a price inc fitiing best bet i find is usually black circles website.

thanks buddy, I have heard mixed reviews about the Noise on the roads.. I have checked camskill and they don't have the ZE912's but I know another site that does for £77. I might stick to them because I've not had a problem with them, even through the Snow they were good.. But I'll keep searching lol..

I have 912's and was told when I got them that they were the replacement for the 452's as the 452's were being phased out. A year on and the 452's are still available I see so either they were that good that they still make them or there is a lot of old stock out there.

i had them on my mk4 golf when i had it, then i changed them to avons because i couldnt get the fk452's and i totally regretted it, the falken fk452 are a great tyre, i didnt find the road noise bad at all, i didnt even notice any difference from the michelinprimacy they replaced, and the michelins are a much more expensive tyre. the tyres on my a4 are due to be replaced shortly and i am defo going for the 452's if i can get them

you wont be disappointed if you get the 452s

I've had several sets of both in the past, the 452's are they're premium tyre, with the 912's not being far behind. I've had very spirited driving on both tyres, in fact the most spirited was with the 912's and it was in wet and greasy conditions and I was amazed at how good they were for the money, that was on my old 8L S3.

The 452's I have on my A4 now and again they are a very good tyre, although I do agree about the road noise, I had Pilot Sport 3's on the car before buying new wheels which came as a package deal with the 452's and instantly I noticed the road noise in the cabin was a lot more noticable.

But at the end of the day, for that money you can't have everything I guess! A bit more road noise for a lot less cash isn't a bad compromise at all if you ask me, because I forked out a lot for the PS3's and they literally were a faultless tyre in every condition, but you pay the price for that.

What ever you decide, coming from plenty of experience from both, I don't think you can go wrong for the money.

Thanks for the info Az, i have read on other forums that both Falken tyres are very good and the 452's were slighly noiser but apart from that they were good!

I might just stick to another pair off 912's because i've had no problem with them so far, in the dry, wet and in the snow they were fine.
Just found them on Camskill at bargain price, so I'll get them off there..

I'm shocked at that mate! I had no problems at all with wear rate and grip on the 912's, and that was with hard driving around some of Wales finest roads and in all sorts of conditions. The 452's are very good but I wouldn't say they are far superior to the 912's. But each to their own, ratings of tyres is such a broad subject on forums because some may highly rate a particular tyre when others just don't. I for one don't like continental tyres, they're a premium brand but I just don't like them, some people may think I'm mad for that, but it's what ever suits your particular driving style and wallet at the end of the day.

I've no experience of the 452, but I've been running 912s for about year, initally on my old B6 and now on my present B7. I think it is an absolutely brilliant tyre. It gives away nothing in terms of grip or steering response to the Contis that were on the B7 when I got it, but it is substantially quieter and better riding.

I don't drive the car particularly hard, so have no concerns as yet about wear rates. But to ber honest, I like the 912 so much that, bearing in mind how well-priced it is, I'd be happy to buy another set.

i have had the 912 on for just under a year and they are finished after about 17000 miles

I put some 18" 452s on my Avant TFSi about 3 months ago. I find them nice and sticky in the dry and still pretty sure-footed in the wet. They are louder than the Michelins i had on before but for £206 fitted and balanced you'd be hard pushed to find better i reckon.
