8L S3 Glossy Black Side Blades and Bumper Inserts Pic Request

Hi All,

I've just had a whole lot of paint work done on my 01 facelift mineral grey S3.
Now that all the paintwork is immaculate i'm thinking the grey door / side blades and front and rear bumper inserts look a little faded. I was thinking of either colour coding the side blades and doing the bumper inserts in a gloss black like the golf R or various Audis or doing the blades and inserts all in gloss black.

Has anyone done or seen either of the above? If so do you have any pictures?

I'm too scared to mess with a good thing so without pictures I think I'll just get em all redone in the original grey.

Wrap em dude. That way if you fluff it you can just heat up and remove;)
 
Intresting as iv got the same problem, except do not have a clue what the original colour should be, cannot get a paint code anywhere. I think they may look carp in gloss black.
 
Will be marmite no doubt, Could look cool on grey though.

Sportstractor i called my local dealer and they said the factory colour code is grey L7DL.
Damo I'm from Australia and don't understand your random pommy slang is marmite a good thing? We hate that **** here. Only way i've ever heard it used is a Marmite Miner which isn't the best thing...

s3dave, a few questions if you dont mind...
How did you re-colour the s3 badge?
What did you use to darken the lights?
Did you just sand and spray the bumper inserts with black paint?

That is the end of my inquisition :D thanks

Considering doing it myself as well, not sure wether to spray it or just wrap it. might be more glossy if wrapped... i wonder how hard it would be...

It's not hard at all to wrap something like that pal. Just take Yr time.
 
well the back insert prob is ok to wrap but the front with all the slat must be a real pig to do.... no?
 
You'll not be able to wrap the grill inserts but the surround is easy enough. No need for removal just pop the inserts out;)

Black s3 badge of ebay
headlights = flyeyes google it
light sand, plastic primer, 5 layers of gloss black 3 layers of acrylic laquer upper front grill also done.

S17NJ looks spot on great contrast, the reason i did mine was it always looked tired, except after a wash... next day it looked tired again
I think it freshens it up and gives it more definition, it wont suit the purists but they are knocking on abit so call it a bit of a makeover...

did you get the kit off the fly eyes website? if so how much did you need and what colour did you have ... black 1 or 2 or 3 ? :)

i think gloss black would look nice with the upper grille done and the headlight painted black as well...

I Agree Dave, I think it suits the black wheels IMO!

my question is at the first pic I note you have a front spoiler. Where you get it? what is ther part name?

is it an OEM part or it is an update. Looks great on car!

Yeh it's an LCR front splitter. You'll pick one up from seat for around £28.

Hello mate, yep its a LCR splitter, picked mine up from seat for £20....
