That he is - nothing to do with me :whistle2:

To be fair I dont want to take my car anywhere else

I got my plates from the same guy. They're pretty sweet.

Been on a few months now with no issues.

I went with plain though, dont like clutter on the plates:

Nice I need to get mine redone, as Steve pointed out over the weekend.

Just had the bumper off again and tightened up the t-clamps loads, I mean loads! Hopefully they'll be ok now but we'll find out on Friday ;)

While the bumper was off I trimmed down the LCR splitter after Mr Prawn pointed out that it was bowing in the middle. I hope you approve now? Finished trimming up the fog grills too so it looks like a normal S3 again:

I also got my new locking dust caps today. Let's see how long these last before they're nicked!

Tomorrow night is bath night so I'll get the colour resembling Ming blue instead of a dusty blue.

Looking good, if you dont mind me asking is that intercooler on the ****? Ie it does not look like its central behind your bumper.

Ming blue ftw mine was bathed tonite and it such a nice colour when polished and waxed

What a cracking write up, W3sty, thoroughly enjoyed reading through it and totally love everything you've done. I bought my pressed plates from the same place on Ebay a few weeks ago, much better value than Dubmeister and a lot less hassle than having to send your original docs away to them etc. Looking SWEET! As has been said, maybe you need to get your valve caps wired into the battery, so the little barstewards can't pinch them this time, lol. Joking aside though, car's a total credit to ya!

do your dust caps up with a spanner, then take a file to the edges to sharpen them up a tad!

Then you'll just have to wipe the ****** off them every few days after the little ******** try to nick them!

I'll do a full write up when I get time to scan my power runs but here's the important stuff from yesterday's trip to Bill's.

- mapped to Revo stage 2 and produced 270bhp
- I had a pressure drop of 7psi across my cooling system so I'll be ripping out the SMIC I left in
- my fuel pump seems to be struggling with givin enough fuel at the top of the rev range so an inline pump is next on the to do list
- we ran a comparison between the standard smoothed airbox and a jetex cone and the jetex gave me 7bhp extra!
- I also bought myself one of Bills gaskets to space out the inlet manifold which will keep inlet temps down a bit. The difference in heat when touching my mani and s3 baby's mani was unbelievable and he's been running one of these gaskets for ages so I thought I'd join him ;)

It was great to see Welly, Dane, and Bill again. I also met Mark (Byzan A4) who was a very nice chap and gave me 2 ASN stickers to fly the flag.

Pics and graphs to follow......

Awesome, I bet it's an animal! I've been looking at grabbing one of those phenolic gaskets myself. What does Bill charge for them?

Well I'll add that to the list then :)

I'm guessing it's a bit warm back there at the moment, so even more noticeable?

Yeah it's mid 20s here at the moment which is obviously quite hot for England ;)

The 270bhp on the rollers was obviously a hot run as it's difficult to get enough air into the car while it's doing 150mph without moving.

To be honest, I'd trade 25 for some of the 40+ days here

Have you made a heat shield for the Jetex or was that just a trial? Did it change sound much?

I was always going to buy a jetex so we decided to do before and after run to see just how much better it was. The jetex changes the sound soooo much and it sounds awesome now. 9bhp extra from an air filter is unbelievable!

I'll be making myself a heat shield in the next couple of weeks.

And I have a video of westy grimacing as Bill takes it to the red line lol

Westy, did you get these off the bay?? If so get a little copper grease on them iv had two pairs so far and both have seized. Had to have them cut out twice. First pair where the black veriant's second set same as above. Right pain in the *** when your only after a couple of psi;)

Yeah they're eBay jobbies mate. I'll copper slip them up when I'm home. They've survived 2 nights at my girlfriends so they must be working ;)

Cheers for the heads up.

Here's the power graphs. There's something wrong with the colour scanner at the moment so I've had to use the old black and white one:

This graph shows the pressure drop across the FMIC system:

PowerRuns2.jpg

This shows the fueling getting a bit lean towards the top of the rev range due to the tired fuel pump:

PowerRuns3.jpg

And here's a comparison of my car and S3 Baby's car which has an additional 20lbft torque than mine due to his fuel pump being ok:

I'm still trying to get the video of my car on the rollers onto youtube but for some reason it wont publish from my iPhone :(

If your current pump is struggling on a 3bar FPR mate I would be tempted to change the intank before fitting an inline... the intank acts as a lift pump for the inline... RossoTT has posted a few of the probs he has had with a similar prob and he fitted an inline but is getting issues with it as its having to try and draw fuel through an ailing intank pump...

Is changing the intank a big job though? Is it worth going for a standard replacement pump or an uprated one?

Not done one personally but access is easy enough as you just remove a panel under the rear seat squab and the whole assembly is held in by a plastic locking ring...

Not sure how the replacement part comes tbh... I would imagine its a complete unit rather than just the pump so 'should' be a straight swap... I know Bill has 'upgraded' Ibiza pumps using the one from an LCR as I believe the std S3/TT/LCR pumps are pretty good out the box and in essence a new one should be all you need...

There maybe an upgrade available (Walbro or something) but will be more involved to fit...

Listed on ETKA as a complete unit so just a case of removing and refitting without adding or taking away any additional parts.

Good work westy, must be a job to drive :)

Yes mate it's good to drive but can still be better. I'll be ordering up my hoses to replace the SMIC i left in and I'll be getting a new fuel pump and re-venting the catch can.

If you could see how much smoke comes out of the atmos vent when the car is on full chat you'd be amazed! I'm breathing all that crap in at the moment :(
