Anyone got or had Brooks trainers? I've seen some i like and not sure if to get them or Asics.
I usually where Adidas and need a change.
These will be for use in the Gym and maybe a small amount of running. Need advise please

Only 'cause never heard of Brooke and can't be bothered to google! Asic is a well known quality athletic brand in my opinion.
On a side note have I spotted you in the stone cross/west bromwich area?

If you are going to be running outside it is best to get a pair of trainers that compliment your running Gait. You can get this checked at a store that has a gait running machine, which consists of a treadmill, camera and computer. This will allow the shop to recommend the best type of trainers for your gait to reduce injuries caused by road running.

If it is just for the gym, it don't matter what you get. Most gymwork is less invasive as outdoor running, so you can choose the type that look the best if you want.

I go road running between 20k - 30k a week, and I wear Asics, because they offered the best support for me.

Saying that, I have a few niggles so I will need to go and get my gait checked again. I will be going to Go Outdoors as they have machines in there.

Wow 20 to 30k a week!

I do that in a year! Please take all advice from state of play as more reliable than mine.
I'm more into mtb.

Don't get too hung up on brands. It's all about getting the right shoe for you your purpose and your running style. With over 20 years of long distance running under my belt I think I have tried just about every brand out there and have never really had a brand allegiance although I have a soft spot for Nike(who spend an outrageous amount on R+D). There's not much to separate the top brands other than personal preference tbh and although brookes aren't one of the high profile makes they make very good shoes. I have a pair on the go atm and they're great.
I wouldn't worry too much about gait analysis(wifes a podiatrist so that's her advice) for what you want to do. Just go to a proper running shop with knowledgeable staff who will help you pick the right type not brand, for you.

Hope this helps

Andy

I agree with what Andy says above, you should buy the right type of shoe for your intended use from a proper running shop and ignore the maker/colour/etc.

I'm currently running in Salomon Crossmax Neutral - a mix between a trail shoe and a road shoe. Finding them very good for my type of running - 25 - 30 miles a week which is 2/3 gravel paths and 1/3 tarmac. They also have a quick lace system which is ideal for when I'm racing triathlons.
