Does anyone know FOR DEFINITE if an A3 Sport and S-line (same engine and FWD/Quattro) have the same shocks???

I know the s-line springs are slightly (10mm) lower than the Sport, but just want to know if the shocks are different too.

Looking at euro car parts they give the same OEM part for both. Dunno how accurate they are though.

Had a look on bilstein as well and they only give the option between 'standard chassis' and 'sport chassis' shocks.

Anyone???

I read that as ECP don't offer a damper for S-Lines, but for "standard" and "sport" suspensions. The S-Line has different dampers I'm sure but it's difficult to work it out IMO due to AUDI/VAGs incredibly complex part numbering system!

I have some S-Line springs for mine and rear dampers allegedly off an S-Line; the part number for the rear dampers IS different to those on the rear of my Sport. Off the car they feel fairly stiff compared with other rear dampers I've messed about with off the car (ie some BMW).

The S-Line is quite a marked step from the Sport in terms of firmness and body control, plus slight lowering so it would be reasonable to expect the dampers are to suit.

Looking in ETKA it appears there is only one (or was it two) different dampers for a 2007 A3. This can't be true, I wouldn't have thought.

Seems only speculation exists on this subject.

Do you have the part numbers for your sport and (alleged) s-line shocks???

I can have a look - I'm sure I looked on some parts catalogue and there's upteen different part numbers/suffixes for dampers? I'll try and get the numbers off my car and the dampers which are in my shed.

Appreciate it if you could mate. :thumbsup:

They are different lengths Ay. no problem but keep them paired.

Well when i smashed my car up last year the repair place said they got the wrong ones in and they were an inch too long because they were not s-line. I didnt see them so i cant be absolutely sure mate but i have no reason to doubt them. I suppose part numbers would tell you so maybe a phone call to audi parts desk. ??

Possibility they were standard shocks?
Dunno.

Problem with Audi parts is that they won't give out part no's anymore.
Suppose I could try giving them the reg of my sport and an s-line and ask if they are showing the same shocks.
But I've found as soon as the parts dept cotton on that you're trying to use them for info purposes rather than buying they clam up.

He who dares, I guess.

Sorry for the delays, these rear dampers are allegedly off an S-Line Sportback;

1K0 513 029 JF (this is stamped into the metal damper body)
1K0 512 011 SW (this is the sticker on the damper body)

Why there are two part numbers I have no idea. Also VAG seem to give different part numbers for the same part when it's fitted to a different car! It would be interested to see what ETKA shows up for those as I can't guarantee they're for an S-Line but they do feel quite firm off the car to me. I bought them of a particularly dodgy ebayer.

I had a look under my Sport sportback but the dampers have got dirty and didn't have time to clean it up to make out the numbers.

Thanks mate.

Searched ETKA and couldn't find either of those part numbers exactly, just some with different letters at the end. But when I used the find function it found 1K0 513 029 JF, but can't see anymore description than 'gas-filled shock absorber'.

Google doesn't bring up anything for those numbers either.

It's never straight forward with audi parts!

i just did a search on this on my ETKA and it comes up as a A3 Cab part!
do a search on the atp tab and search all models for it to come up.

Another thing. When I do a search in ETKA and put a part number in the seach box, it returns the result. When you click on the result it takes you to the pricing page. Is there a way to get to the diagram page instead????

Does it give an indication of the chassis type? (se, sport, s-line etc)?

Thanks for that, looks like they're basic dampers in the end.

PR codes are spec codes for the car, all the 3 digit letters in the handbook/service booklet denote what spec the car is. UA4 and UA5 seem to say "base version" and "4WD".

Interesting link here wher you can put in as many or as little PR codes and it tells you what htey relate too;
