Iron X vs Wolfs deironizer

well only one winner here

IRON X!!!!

as i have both products to test out i thought id do a 50/50 on my BBS CH's which were off my S4 ready for cleaning and sealing for GTI. i masked up the wheel and went ahead with the video for the test. as my laptop is being fixed im on my mrs notebook thing so no drivers for my samsung phone but ill try get the video up soon of the results.

safe to say that if anyone is thinking of parting with their money on the wolfs deironizer then dont bother, just put the extra couple of quid to it and get iron X, i really couldnt believe the difference in the 2. wolfs just didnt do the job it was supposed to do plus iron x worked almost instantly.

its on par with iron x westy lol

if you havent used iron x before then you should try out and see what magic it produces

We used to stock Iron X but now stock Wolf's Decon Gel.

The Decon Gel doesn't have such a dramatic reaction (turning purple) but the colour change is NOT representative of the amount of contamination being removed.

The purple colour change could be made to occur with a dye so don't confuse the colour change with product strength.

Additionally, the two products have very different methods of operation: I'd be interested to know exactly how you applied the products and how long you left them on the surface.

Bear in mind Wolf's should be left to dwell on the surface until it's dry - 20minutes should be fine. Iron X should be rinsed within 5 minutes.
 
both products sprayed on equally on a 50/50 of my wheel, left to dwell for 5 mins then washed off.

previous wheel i only used wolfs and left to dwell for 15-20 mins. dont get me wrong wolfs does do the job but not as well as iron x
 
I was waiting to see if John had any input to add to this post - principally because my Wolf's decon gel arrived today!:)

Wolf's is designed to be left for longer - as I said, don't be fooled into thinking the colour change means it's doing more; we've been told by Wolf's that they could add dye into Decon Gel to make it appear to react faster, but there'd be little point.

On really bad wheels, I've sprayed Wolf's on and left it overnight before jet washing off with no issues. (Additionally, the price difference is quite a lot - when we had Iron X it was £11.95 for 500ml, Decon Gel is £10 for a Litre)

i prefer iron x so will stick with it, it brought my wheels up like brand new after 20mins which is easier as its faster than leaving wolfs overnight for example. i purchased wolfs as i was reading your website about the stuff but it didnt do what i wanted it to do in the time i wanted it to do. thats why i bought iron x to compare the both and iron x does a better job in a quicker time.

Fair enough.

I disagree entirely, and in my view Decon Gel does a superior job (it has degreaser products in it too so will remove general grime too) in a slightly longer time but, as you say, each to their own.

Our process is to rinse wheels with the pressure washer then spray on Decon Gel and leave it whilst we make up shampoo and rinse buckets and a bucket for wheels - that way the product is doing it's work whilst you do other tasks; zero downtime.

Bringing cost into it, swings the balance a lot too, especially when we can ship Decon Gel to UK Mainland addresses for free..... :)

just ordered some decon gel from polished bliss!!! will let ya know how it goes! i have loads of contaminants on the wheels. Tar remover would not shift them so im guessing this is iron filings from brakes? in which case i use deironizer?

Yup, most likely. Just follow the instructions on the site and don't be afraid to leave the product on the wheels to do its work.

i shall leave on longer on the next car we do, ill see if it works better the next time around. ill keep you posted.

p.s got the wolfs nano body wrap after seeing it on the s3, applied to my car today, can be a pain if too much is used but that is my fault i guess, what are the directions for applying? i used a zaino applicator pad(the triple layered blue whit and black olne) put a moderate amount on like it said and left for 25 mins to fully dry, needed some good buffing off 3 times before fully removed with its oils etc, is this right??

Cool, I tend to spray it andgo and do some other tasks.

Re: Body Wrap, I'm not familiar with the Zaino applicator; I use a Meguiar's Microfibre pad: Meguiar's Microfibre Applicator Pad | Meguiar's Car Care & Detailing Products and use one or two drops of product per panel. We leave it around 15minutes on the surface prior to buffing off, maybe 10 minutes if it's warm: I presume you applied it indoors? It shouldn't be applied outside.

It should then buff off easily; I suspect you've used too much product if it was difficult to buff.

the zaino applicator pad is the same one you used on the ferrari F40 its in one of the pics you have.

i did apply indoors, it buffed off fine but i found it left streaks in the paint, no matter what buffing i done i couldnt get them out. on the applicator pad i used 2 drops(by its own gravity and not pressing the bottle) i spread the product evenly on the my panels and all was well, only thing i didnt like was the streaks it left behind. on another car i shall try a different method of applying and see how i get on with it. i did get the streaks out after i applied Dodo purple haze. i do like the nano sealant mind and it goes a very long way so good value for money also.

Did you wipe down with IPA before application?
 
I used wolfs deironizer at the weekend after buying from polished bliss. Very impressed with the outcome. Have to say can't stand the smell of Iron x. Reason I went for wolfs was I was buying other products from PB and will definitely buy more for the next big detail.
 
I tested it out over the weekend too and I was pretty chuffed with the results. Left it on for probably nearly half an hour or so and there was plenty of activity going on, lots of deep purple streaks. Impressive stuff...
 
Good stuff guys, it just needs a little bit of dwell time to do its best work but coupled with the degreasers in the product, I think this makes it tough to beat.

(It's showing as low stock on the site at the moment (a fair few bottles left but it sells quickly), but new stock is arriving this week.
 
AMAZING = Wolfs

I havent used iron X but im quite new to this detailing thing so prefer to stay away from products that i cant allow to dwell..

I have had my BBS for nearly two years and they were lookin real shabby.. Got all the dirt and tar off them but was still left with the unsightly black specs everywhere..

Nowim kicking myself as i didnt get a before shot..

i literally cleaned the wheels fully and brished this on, not even that thick & gave a little agitation. went back after 20 minutes, jetwashed and they are almost spotless!! when i get my brakes fitted gonna have the wheels off and do them properly!!
