Debadge or not ?

time for a new car lol

:no:Not necessarily mate! I really like your car, it has character and shows your personality by the mods you have made...! I respect that far more than someone who has a new rep-mobile handed to them every three years. Stick to your guns my northernmost friend:gun2:

stick with it Fran, its a great car and you have had better value for money from it than most of us ever will. I have had mine 5 years :) they become like a good worn in pair of jeans after a while :)

she has her problems yes but i know her inside out all her little flaws etc.. lol im going to try and get a new car maybe the end of next year as this one is getting high millage now she is on 92k and thats quite a bit on a 1.6 i think

So today I decided to have a go at debadging.. Initially I was gonna remove the "A3" and the "TFSI" leaving just the "quattro" badge.. Then I had a slight change of mind.. anyway, I used a hairdryer on the badge till I could wiggle it a bit, then I got dental floss and it came off really easy! I gently rubbed the large bits of glue off, then used sticky stuff remover to get the rest off.. Finally I polished it with some Autoglym Ultra deep shine, and you can't tell it was ever there:arco: here's a couple pics..:

As you can see I have left the TFSI & Quattro badges on ATM.. I'm thinking I might take the TFSI off too and just leave the quattro so people might think It's a TDI!!?? What you guys think?

Get rid mate, looks odd. I got rid of my 2.0T cos it was too much badge for my liking. Kept the A3 for now but that might go too. Now whenever anyone asks about the car they always assume it's a diesel.

Why do you want people to think its a diesel ?

I don't Pad! Lol.. I don't care what anyone else thinks it is.. I think I'm gonna go smooth with it and carrying on debadging today!! This thread has been hilarious though, everyone is very passionate about this issue it seems... :lmfao:

debadged is defo the way forward i know that what im going to do when i get my a3 but debating if i should take the audi badge of the rear hmmmm

Take them all off chris
Ok Scott mate, so you reckon take all of them off, even the little Quattro badge? Only reason I was thinking bout keeping it was cos it matches the quattro badge on the front grill?
here here!
and as for you ash, how can I argue with a man that can pull off White loafers! Chamon lol.. I take it yours is fully debadged too, mate?

bye bye wiper;)
Gotta say dude, been thinking bout doing that already.. I never use my rear wiper usually cos I hate the stupid semi-circle it leaves when the rear window is slightly dirty.. I've got the rain sensors on this one too, so when it's raining and I put it in reverse, it automatically starts the rear wiper! Very annoying (wonder if this can be disabled somehow with vcds?.. Hopefully NHN will be along to enlighten us shortly!?)

Boy!!!!???? :slapped:Lol... I have the comfort pack on my11.. Got rain, light sensors etc.. I've noticed when it rains and I select reverse, it auto does the poxy rear wiper...!
I'm with you tho, I'm really tempted to remove the wiper, just been reading how much hassle it can be.....?

All A3's automatically start the rear wiper if the front wiper is active and the car is put into reverse.
as for the sensor thats part of the auto lights pack.. i am retro fitting that hopefully in the next week or so.

main problem with de-wiper is that the water pipe needs to be disconnected otherwise you will fry out the boot lock mechinism. i think you might be able to deactivate the rear wiper in VCDS... not 100% sure... i have seen a 'tear drop' setting there mind.

I tried it with just the sline badge on m8 its just too small (like the quattro) and looks out of place IMO if you want the quattro to stop on leave the tsfi but i would whip them off looks loads cleaner....

We must all think the same i fudging hate this, no doubt you will be able to disable it in vcds, ill find out tonight for you fellas as im get the coming home lights and a few other things sorted. . . .

I think i have a rain sensor too mine does exactly the same as above, if you dewipered it would still be a good idea to disable the rear wiper as the motor would still go if you knocked the stalk

Ok so i dont have a rain sensor lmao this is obviously a reasonable explaination :)

you will know if you have a rain sensor if the wipers just start wiping as soon as there is rain/water on the windscreen, you must have a auto dimming mirror and the lights will automatically come on as soon as it gets dark.

There's definitely an option in the dis on MY11 to turn the auto rear wiper off. So there will almost certainly be an option in vcds for all other models.

Cool! If you're right eddy I'm gonna do that tomorrow..! Can't remember seeing that option, but I'm sure you're right mate...

the option in vcds regarding rear wiper is the 'tear drop' option... where the rear wiper will do one last wipe about 3 seconds after the rear water jet has been used to get rid of any trailing water. It is a convenience option hence it now coming up on my11 DIS systems.
I havnt seen an option on vcds to completely turn the rear wiper off but as it is a can-bus system i am sure there should be a setting somewhere to turn it off. otherwise guys just disconnect the water pipes at the front of the car and de-wiper it.

also when the rear wiper is disconnected i am sure the DIS does not complain... this leads me to believe that there is no module going to it, and it is running off the front wiper system. needs to be looked at instead of speculating

There is no option for the teardrop feature on my DIS just the automatic wipe when reverse selected or something along those lines.

I took all the writing of the indicator stalks......looks really cool. :sm4:

What did you use? Paint thinners I thought might work but don't want to damage the plastic, might try this at the weekend when I have nothing better to do!:sm4:
