8L S3 Insurance costs..what do you pay?

Im 23, driving for 5 years, 2001 1.8T, me as the main and missus as a named, 3 years ncb, crap postcode rating E, £937 Fully Comp

im with swift cover age 23 4 ncb driving for 6 years a3 1.8 20v turbo paying £57month think its around £700 fully comp

I'm curious as to how you got insured with Admiral with a modified car, as they wouldn't touch my S3 the moment I said car is remapped! though that was 2 years ago, maybe they have changed their policy?
Joe,

I've been insured with Admiral group (Admiral/Elephant/Bell) for many years now and they've always covered modified cars. Their website is one of the better ones as it allows you to pick and choose mods from a long list and then get a requote. So you can see exactly how much extra each mod is. As someone else has posted, they found 0-10% power increase is £7 premium, but the 11-25% is £144.

As a general comment, and it's touched on in previous posts, adding a female driver to the policy as named driver helps out. I've put one of my 34 year old friends on the policy and even though she has 3 points from a CU80 (using phone whilst driving), it still makes my policy about £50 cheaper a year.

Adrian flux on the modified scheme so any mod if free to insure 24 with 1ncb been driving for 6 years £1700 third party fire and theft

£100 excess A3 1.8tq

28, 3 points, 8 years NCB 4 of which is with the s3, good postcode, £900 fire/theft third party. Not born here means I am paying an extra £180 else it would have been ~ £720

21 when i took out the insurance, was circa £700. Bargain.

Just checked earlier and look likes it will be around £600 this year so not bad at all, aslong as its goes down every so often it keeps me happy, if it went over £1000 i think i'd rather sell, just don't see the point paying all the money for an S3 when i can insure a RS4 for £900 :wtf:

26, male, se london, first car (0 nc), resident parking, £2,000 excess (ouch), fully comp, car valued at £7,000 - £1,100

Had my renewal though which I need to do before GTI... £436 fully comp all mods declared, 44, in Gloucestershire... I did get a 'whole' 10% discount for limiting mileage to 5k per year as I only really drive her at the weekends now...

<tuffty/>

I got mine at 5k a year now but getting quotes of £800 with all mods declared, 33, garaged

Who are you with Tuffty

Adrian Flux but can't remember who the actual insurer is off hand... it was the best quote of all the companies they tried (apparently)

<tuffty/>

I was with swift cover last year paying £330 ish, their renewal came beginning of June and they wanted near on 600, i'm 41 9+ years NCB no claims or convictions with my missus as a named driver, fully comp & protected with windscreen & breakdown cover, ended up going on go compare and got it down to about 500 ish IIRC, tried elephant & confused but go compare gave me the cheapest quotes by far.

I'm with admiral they wanted £1700 by myself or £1000 multicar with the misses hers being £650 for a sport ka so was cheaper to insure both rather than just mine

Both full comp on each others me 23, 6 years driving 1 claim 3 year ncb and 9 points :whistle2:

Misses 22, clean with 2 years driving experiance

Tufty did you say being old and living in the sticks or being old and needing sticks :p

im with Admiral multicar policy but im 24 6yr NCB live in a low crime area and have no claims or points plus cars left at two address's, mine and the other halfs;

S3= 300
RS4= 1100
8p A3 2.0tQ= 300
Peugeot 407 hdi= 290

Thats me and the misses on both.

24, 7 years NCD, no points - just shy of a grand with my mods declared.
When I took it out the year before it was £800 so gone up a fair bit, regardless of being a year older with 1 extra year NCD, and still the cheapest I could find :(

35, no no claims as co car driver but gave small discount as good will... me and the missus full comp @ £480 (kwickfit of all places)

24 Years old,
S3 2000
14k miles a year
No mods declared
2 years NCB with 1 fault claim, no points
My renewal is at the end of the month and Direct Line (current insurer) have offered me £1600 with £600xs!!
£1111 with £475xs (Admiral) inc legal cover + guaranteed hire car is the best I found
Definetly worth shopping around...and then calling the company to get it even cheaper :) (was £1190 on the net without optional extra's inc)

I think this just comes down to a Post Code lottery. I live in Greater London (UB3), drive a 97 a3 1.8 T, 28 years old, 4 year ncb - protected. Will be paying £770 at the start of July with AA with no mods declared. Have seen slightly cheaper quotes (upto £100) but these are with companies I've never heard off. Had to incidents in last 5 years, 1 was a hit and run in 2007 - Claim made and 2nd was last year, hit by drink driver - no claim made. My insurance has been around £700 for the last 4 years or so on this car. Find it crazy that some of you guys are younger than me and pay less than me!!!

Great advice mate- entered all my details into the site last nite- and have just got an e-mail from them....
£899.35 with £450 XS, and that's with Highway Insurance who are a known insurer + Legal + Guaranteed Hire Car + Possible track day cover!

I'll be giving them a call when I get home to run through all the details....but I'm impressed with the price and service so far.

Just got off the phone to greenlight, to double check everything I entered on the net was correct + investigate any further T&C's.
Nothing that I altered changed the premium (forgot a NF claim in 2007) and so £899.75 is the guaranteed price!

This was with the spec I entered above (standard S3).... I then went on to say I was possibly getting a set of 18" BBS' Audi Alloys worth about £1000.. and that still didnt change the price!

Then enquired about adding Coilovers which took it to £944.35- which is still very good I think. (Parts to be fitted pre-inception date)

Definitely worth a quote from them when your renewal comes up... Cheers S1LFH
