The TQS Owners thread

you still after the rears of the s3 reesy hehe was think off this last night how people said dont get them they serve no point what about when you do the haldex conversion with the blue haldex would they be needed then.

i think im going for 4 pots up front instead of the 312mm

Nah still wont make any difference mate. Ideally you want a manual brake bias controller so you can apply more braking to the rear.

ooooo some one been playing gt5 hehe good thinking m8 never even crossed my mind.

My mate is fitting a brake bias to his BMW race car. He's fitting the wheel for it in the glove box so it can be adjusted on the fly. Pretty tasty stuff.

they do look fancy whats costing on these? but im sure 4pots with solids on rear would be fine with the blue haldex.

gladly i h8 abs its the most annoying device they invented.

Nope, I beg to differ, the most annoying device ever invented is the annoying beep on the newer stuff when you haven't got your belt on!

With regards to the S3 rears, I'll probably end up getting some eventually, most likely if I see a set at the right price, but although they only do 30% of the braking, another inch of disk on both sides can't harm.

you can turn the annoying beep off with the vag com the abs you carnt which is a pita.

supose it carnt harm to get them a bit bigger on the rears you gonna cut the disk guard or change the guards.
iirc you have to split the hub to change the guards so cutting would be easyist

two bits of the shopping list get picked up 2moz :)

throttle body gasket from audi £2.20
lcr top mounts and bearings from euro car parts £24

order rear tie arms saturday forge ones for £250

only got suspension to buy from venom £200
and r32 roll bars from vw for £180 front and back
bushes for roll bars from awesome £40
front drop links £20 from euro car parts

I was advised by the owner of ATS Euromaster, that the splash guards behind the disks are pointless and not needed - mine were cut off when I changed the calipers.

Reesy, here is a link to his shop mate: gbautomotive2010 items - Get great deals on Brake Components, Audi items on eBay.co.uk Shops!
Really nice bloke, quick delivery and competitive prices. His parts are all genuine Audi/VW reconditioned by himself.
To be honest, my rear disks needed doing anyway, and I didn't want red calipers at the front and brown rusty ones at the
back, so I just did the change anyway and I don't regret it :)

Syvo, I mean, would he be able to give me a quote for repairing a couple of bashed door panels on a friend's car?
Does he know of any good body shops that won't charge a fortune..? Cheers mate.

Alex

i can allways ask him send us some pics over and will pass them on and see what he says only slight problem would be travelling as you live in herts i live in warrington fair treck away.

the r32 roll bars fit the tqs just double check urs go under the drive shaft as the s3 and r32 ones do mine do but not allways the same on all tqs iirc.
the drop links are what connect to the arb they are needed if you gonna change the roll bars may aswell change the drop links also.

as im doing the whole suspension im doing every thing that goes with it

coilovers
drop links
top mounts
bearings
roll bars
tie arms

so once its all done dont have to touch it for a good while and all geometery set at once

have passed pics over to bro he does go away this weekend tho so might have to wait a while for a reply ive had a quick look at them the door should be ok fix its that rear quarter that is worrying me might be new complete quarter or alot of filler which i wouldnt recomend. then you going into money having to cut and weld new quarter and strip down car and paint

ok peeps im waiting on two companys to get back to me with info on a group buy for down pipe for our cars.

pipewerx and mig performance.

ive told them there would be roughly 5 of us getting the down pipes so see what discount we get on this

spoken to awesome who would use pipewerx they would be interested in the group buy although he would need to reset the jig to do the exhaust which means mine would have to be done first then every one else about a week or 2 after that so he is sure the jig is correct.

phoned mij performance they said they would get some one call back this was at 1pm yesterday and still no reply so im not liking the sound of mij if they cba to call people back.

Shame MIJ won't have the specs they used for mine anymore, they could have just knocked 4 or 5 up and posted them out to you... Have you tried their eBay shop?

yeh they could do that but there is still the work in stripping down and welding then respraying and blending pannel in.

the car would have to be done as a forigner as ninemeister wouldnt have the car as its no porsche they fussy like that so all work would have to be done at home or maybe the chance of getting car in after hours.

Ok mate, anyway, let me know what figure your brother comes up with :) then we will see if my friend is being ripped off

bit of an update on the exhaust people longlife seem to be the cheapest also they are all custom made no jigs so each one would be to suit there car.
again they would need mine first to see how difficult it would be to design and fit then will see what discount they give.

total price for 3" downpipe 200 cell cat 2.5" system £750

it was £400 for down pipe and cat so would say around £200 for the downpipe so hopefully i can get this down to £150 with a group buy

you got a recipt from them so i can show them and prove the price you got quoted as mij want £800 for the system you have also when did you get this done?

is yours a 3" down pipe with what size cat 100 or 200 and the rest of the system 2.5" or 3"

2.75" dp, 2.5" mid and 2.25" rear... 200 cel cat... If you give me a little bit i'll dig up the invoice. It was done about 2-3 months ago. My question for today for the forum ...... is a 78,000 mile motor too old for BT upgrade? Modern engines do 200,000 with ease, but just wanted another opinion?

no as if your going bt you will change the rods which will help with a tired engine.
what bt you looking for?
also asked bro about the pics you sent me he said it wouldnt be cheap repair to do and would need to see the car to quote it as the pics dont tell enough he said.

Maybe, but I thought they were good until 400? I'm looking at a gt28rs mate. You can get this kit:
GT2860RS -5005S ball bearing turbo 0.64 AR
Hi Flow cast manifold
3” SS downpipe and sports cat
3” SS Inlet pipe
SS Charge pipe
Forge Custom Front Mounted Intercooler & pipework
Silicone connecting hoses (Blue, Red or Yellow)
Braided oil and water hoses
SS oil drain bottom pipe.
Gaskets
Hose clamps
Actuator bracket and SS extension rod
Studs, Bolts, Nuts, washers and heat wrap.

It costs 4k, but you get everything. What do you think?

Thanks about tue quote mate, it's pretty much sorted now.

no worries m8.

4k for the gt28rs set up bit expensive could be knocking on the door for gt30 for that money you not fancy hybrid?

Hey guys...

I went back to R-Tech as my car needed smoke testing for a suspected boost leak, turns out it was the usual suspect pipes under the inlet manifold that where leaking.

So booked in for more work.

Next week all of the secondary air intake system is being ripped out along with the n249 valve thing and in it's place will be a oil catch can :)

Also they are going to clean my throttle body and reset that too.

Hope all your TQS's are going well.

Still reading this lot on here, just from the back of the room.

Nice to hear things have been all fixed up Newt :) how much do they want for the intake removal and throttle body cleaning?

Syvo, £1150 for stage 2 hybrid, £800 for the forge fmic, about £600 for the mani, labour prob £600. That's still £3200 (for 280-300bhp) - then all the little niggly bits, unless you know of a cheaper route mate??

ive been looking at the f23 franken turbo its basically a k04 hybrid turbo but will fit our cars.

£1150 shipped from states for turbo and all parts.
then you got all the extras on top.
con rods
gaskets
big end bearings
stage 3 remap

got price from bill for fitting all parts and providing excluding the turbo for a nice £2500 then £1150 for turbo and what eva he wants for fitting the turbo

probs looking around 4k all in for 320bhp

the more i sit back and look at it the less tempting it seems 4k for extra 140bhp or 7k for extra 220bhp (gt30 kit)

manual boost controllers.. talk to me?

do they work on these? i have people saying yes.. and people saying no, the boost is ecu controlled and ecu will over ride the controller?

i need cheap ghetto power before my next trackday lol

Cheers Zeus :) They are doing all of the above for £200 and includes a chrome oil catch can and Forge end plugs/stoppers whatever the are called so not too bad really and saves me getting my hands dirty lol.

Reading all this bigger turbo stuff is making me very jealous, I need a better paid job or a lotto win before I can even think about doing any of this stuff to mine, lol.

the idea is there for the big turbo just not the money and carnt bring myself to splashing out that much on the audi when i could buy a evo 8 fqmr for 8k thats 360bhp standard.

my plan of action still stick with the stage 2 map and all extra's hopefully have suspension fitted this month then exhaust next month and remap the month after

ok people i have sorced some down pipes if people are still after these they would be £220 each Mij would need my car for a couple of day i would be getting my exhaust fitted mid to end of august so if people are interested in this please pm me and will have to sort out a payment method as i would have to buy all the downpipes and have the shipped out to people or alternitvly we could meet some where a couple of days after they have sorted mine and have made up the other downpipes and pick them up. my intention would be edition 38 would be good place meet up its on september 3rd.

Yeah the ideas here are good with what can be done and stuff but costs lots, peeps can see some options of what can be brought for their tqs's though with this list of parts and suppliers and what not.

Im going as far as ko3s Hybrid, one piece at a time lol, will take a while but I'll get it there :)

Downpipes at that price sounds good to me :L will it bolt staight up to a standard exhaust do you know?

Back on here now after my hols, car was feeling sluggish on the way up with an extra 250kg of weight in it, but after being parked up for a week felt goooood on the way back.

Like the sound of the downpipe, what price are we looking at for DP and cat, and are we going to get them both from the company, or just the DP and source the cats from eBay or the like??
