WOW!! Talk about silly car valuations!!!

Well found out today customs have valued our cars after exporting to Oz!

My little 2004 A3 came out at $17k (£11.5k approx) and Hubbies 2002 A6 Avant at $19k (£12.7k approx) Can you believe it!!!!! Wish Id taken a MY11 car now! Sad side is we have to pay tax on the values

Aww, Sarah, it doesn't seem fair that you're having to pay such a high rate of import tax on your cars, ..it's not like you weren't taxed on them when you first bought them and let's face it, you've been paying tax on every aspect of owning them since you got them, insurance, road tax, not to mention fuel and VAT on everything you buy for them!! At least you get to have them over in Oz with you, so don't s'pose it's all bad. lol. Hope you enjoy the Aussie life

They vary alot. Cheapest is about $1.29 up to $1.45 (.86p to .96p) but they tend to raise the prices on a Thursday to Sunday lol So best to fill up on a Tuesday/Wednesday!!!!

True but over here you get taxed on everything regardless if we have paid it in the UK. Used cars over here hold their prices, some are almost as dear as new. Audis here are sooooooo expensive!!!!


Deffo not sending them back lol, waited too long to get them! Got a Ute, well its in for repairs, cylinger head gasket went (not had much luck on cars here yet lol ) but it should be good as new soon! Must admit I love Utes!!!! (esp the rear wheel drive ones in the rain!!!)

Hardly seen any A3s or Audis for that. Only one I did see was a lovely A3 2.0tdi Sportback in silver with chrome roof rails and glass roof. Was sweet, just needed better alloys. There is a car show in July we want to go to so hopefully see more then. One guy has an RS4 I want to see!

Totally agree, nooooo way hes being sent back, hes here for good now!
